Job Description

We are recruiting for a proactive, enthusiastic, detail-focused and highly organised Digital Communications Officer to work with us 4 days a week on a permanent contract.

This role will be varied as you’ll be responsible for digital communications at One World Media as well as the International Broadcasting Trust - two small charities who share office space and both work, in different ways, to ensure excellence in media coverage of the developing world. We envisage that you will be working 3 days a week on OWM comms and 1 day a week on IBT comms.

The role would be ideally suited to a digital communications professional interested in international development and particularly representations of the developing world in mainstream media.

The successful candidate will be comfortable working independently and collaboratively within a small team. They will have demonstrable experience of digital communications, be experienced in managing social media platforms, digital marketing, copywriting and website management, with relevant technical skills including Photoshop, InDesign and WordPress.

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing the One World Media, Global Short Docs & IBT websites.
  • Producing and disseminating electronic newsletters on MailChimp.
  • Planning and scheduling digital communications for all One World Media & International Broadcasting Trust projects & activities.
  • Promoting OWM & IBT events and research across all social media including Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and YouTube.
  • Monitoring, maintaining and increasing OWM & IBT’s digital engagement, building their online community.
  • Produce print and digital marketing for all events.
  • Basic filming and video editing for digital use.
  • Attend OWM & IBT events, recording vox pops and stories to post on social media as appropriate.
  • Reviewing overall communications strategy in association with the Directors of IBT & OWM.

Person Specification:

Technical skills

  • Competent and confident across all digital platforms
  • Proficient Creative Cloud experience – Photoshop and InDesign
  • MailChimp digital marketing
  • WordPress content management
  • Basic video editing skills

  • Excellent communication skills with 5 year’s demonstrable experience

Terms and Conditions

Job title:                   Digital Communications Officer
Reports to:                 Director of One World Media
Salary:                       £30,000 per annum, full time equivalent, paid pro-rata.
Probation period: 3 months.
Hours:                       Mon- Thurs, 9.30am-6pm, including a 1-hour lunch break.  
Location:                   OWM Offices, 32-26 Loman Street, London SE1 0EH.
Holiday:                     25 days per annum, plus UK public holidays. In addition, the office is closed between Christmas and New Year.
