Open Doors is a Christian charity, part of Open Doors International, a global NGO network which works in over 60 countries to support and strengthen persecuted Christians. Last year the UK base raised approximately £12 million to provide practical support to persecuted Christians such as food, medicines, trauma care, legal assistance, safe houses and schools, as well as spiritual support through Christian literature, training and resources.

We are looking for an experienced, committed and self-motivated Head of Media and PR. You will have a key role in communicating the reality of persecution for millions of Christians in an increasingly volatile environment for the church globally. You will lead a team of press officers and work closely with our marketing, communications and advocacy teams to achieve our goals.

You will produce strategies to raise awareness of the persecuted church through various media channels and to grow Open Doors’ influence with mainstream and Christian media. Building and maintaining excellent contact with journalists will be second nature for you. Ideally you will have experience in delivering integrated marketing campaigns for a charity and you’ll demonstrate broad understanding of the church and the Christian community throughout the UK and Ireland.

This is an exciting time to join Open Doors, as media communications are so critical to the success of what we do. You’ll join a passionate and dedicated team of communication professionals, providing specialist advice and knowledge on all PR matters. You’ll be given opportunities to network widely and to develop professionally as you strengthen our communications and senior management team. Perhaps most inspiring of all, as a Christian* yourself, you’ll use your skills and experience to make a difference for Christians worldwide - ensuring they are helped, seen and heard.

Closing date: 22 August 2019

Start date: As soon as possible

*There is an occupational requirement under Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010 for this post to be held by an active, practising Christian who assents to our statement of faith.
