About the Role

The Community Fundraisers steward relations with Individual fundraisers, schools, community groups, in memory and challenge eventers.  Supporting fundraisers who want to make a difference which sits at the heart of the charity’s Fundraising Strategy. What’s more, the new five-year strategy, will launch major fundraising campaigns for a new cancer hospital and a new children’s hospital, fundraising is set to reach an incredible level.

Whilst or community fundraising incorporates various income streams, you will be tasked and targeted to generate income from a specific area which may vary over time.

You’ll be working closely with the Community Fundraising Manager and Head of Community Fundraising to help make the Community Fundraising programme a genuine success, helping to maximise the lifetime value of supporters by ensuring they offer the very best stewardship and gratitude to those who fundraise and donate to the Hospital.

Ultimately, you’ll be playing a crucial role in helping to ensure that the greatest number of people are having the greatest impact to make things even better.

About the Role

We currently have a variety of volunteer roles including Fundraising Volunteers, Information Hub Volunteers (who support the Charity Hubs around the hospitals), and event volunteers. The organisation would like to grow the volunteer roles and introduce official Fundraising groups across The East of England to the portfolio.

These are ambitious plans and targets for the charity over the next five years – and volunteers play a huge part in that vision.

Successfully delivering this exciting new fundraising strategy is only possible with a strong team of engaged volunteers – and that is only possible if there are the right volunteer fundraisers in the team.

If successful, you will be working closely with colleagues to identify opportunities for volunteering across events, assisting fundraisers out in the community, setting up fundraising committees, and sourcing income generation opportunities at local community events. You will also be responsible for growing the pool of volunteers allowing presence across the hospital, promoting the work and impact of the charity.

You will also be responsible for co-ordinating the exciting new Hubs within the Hospital programme– ensuring that they are adequately staffed by excellent volunteers who are highly trained, and that are providing an excellent patient experience, in these crucial front-of-house opportunities.

• Work closely with team members in other departments within Save the Children to provide excellent PR support for delivering Save the Children's objectives

• Identify and maximise opportunities to generate reactive media coverage, responding effectively to external events, news and the cultural conversation

About you

To be successful, it is important that you have:

• Significant operational experience in mass-market PR, as a print or broadcast journalist, or equivalent professional media communications experience
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and external contacts across diverse cultures, disciplines and time zones
• Solid experience developing and implementing PR campaigns for corporate clients, including cause-related events, co-branded marketing activity, global campaigns
• Excellent working knowledge of the media landscape – including national broadcast and press, women's, showbiz, tabloid and digital media – with a network of journalistic contacts.
• Excellent writing skills, including the ability to write and edit engaging copy for a range of audiences, across traditional and new mediums

Development / Fundraising Assistant

Purpose of Post 
The Fundraising Partnerships Manager will be responsible for securing and account managing national corporate partnerships, and national trusts and foundations to help air ambulance charities save even more lives across the UK.

Key Responsibilities
Account Management

You will be responsible for fundraising information to advance plans and ensure prospect and donor records are accurate, incorporating any changes, new activities, updated plans, and new information as well as adding new relationships in keeping with data protection and team procedures.
• Work closely with your team and wider organisation colleagues to implement solicitation strategies, to secure financial support either by direct solicitation, preparing a written proposal, or working with senior management to make a solicitation.
• Be involved in the development of funding proposals for approved priority projects that will inspire potential donors to secure gifts.
• Contribute to the planning of and participate actively in events (face to face and online) to build relationships with donors and prospects for future income and to demonstrate the impact of gifts already received.
• Arrange meetings with individual donors at a variety of venues, including at our reserves, working closely with area and reserve colleagues to deliver an excellent experience for our supporters
• Be jointly responsible for the planning, writing, production and mailing of Philanthropy Matters, our publication aimed at philanthropic supporters.
• Build effective relationships both within the RSPB and external to it that will enhance its reputation and ultimately secure funding. This includes understanding donors’ wishes and aspirations and identifying links with approved priority projects with the aim of securing substantial gifts.

Essential skills, knowledge and experience:

• Intermediate levels of fundraising as demonstrated by work successes and recognised fundraising courses
• Experience in how to research and cultivate a prospect. And understanding of how to write a cultivation strategy
• Ability to write funding proposals and prepare briefing documents in advance of meetings and events
• Competent in the use of a CRM system (Salesforce), the Microsoft suite, other databases, research tools and methods
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels
• Ability to work collaboratively with team members, and people and teams outside of our department
• Good judgement when working with donors and ability to recognise potentially sensitive areas between prospects and the RSPB to ensure reputational values are maintained

About this job

Service delivery

• Ensure that all aspects of Rahab’s project activities are planned, organized and undertaken to fulfil their objectives within their required timelines.

• Develop, organize, and maintain project documentation, plans, reports, and other project-related documents to monitor and track overall progress, outputs and achievement of milestones.

• Identify, troubleshoot, and communicate project risks, delays and issues to the Project Manager and relevant stakeholders.

• Monitor project progress with team members and task as required. 

• Contribute to the development of funding applications in coordination with Rahab’s Fundraiser.

• Represent Rahab in multi-agency working groups, meetings, and forums, sharing knowledge and learning, publicising services available and how to access support. 

Beneficiary co-production 

• Work with Manager to start developing a framework and mechanism for gathering feedback from beneficiaries to evaluate the support they are receiving. 

• Work with the team to identify opportunities for our beneficiaries’ active participation in the project in ways that are safe and empowering. 

Shared learning 

• Participate in team development and learning in relation to best practice interventions and our casework delivery for beneficiaries. 
   

Continued professional development 

• Maintain an up-to-date working knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, guidance, and best practice.

Variation clause
