Orchard OCD is a charity focusing on developing treatments for obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). OCD is a common, chronic and long-lasting mental health condition in which a person experiences uncontrollable, intrusive and reoccurring thoughts (obsessions) and behaviours (compulsions) that they feel the urge to repeat over and over, in the attempt to temporarily relieve the distressing feelings brought on by the obsessive thought.

OCD symptoms can range from mild to severe. Some people with OCD may spend a couple of hours a day engaged in obsessive-compulsive thinking and behaviour, for others the condition can completely take over their lives. Sixty per cent of OCD patients are also depressed and many are suicidal.

OCD is among the most underfunded of mental disorders, even though the World Health Organisation lists it as one of the 10 most debilitating illnesses globally.

That's why we set up Orchard OCD: to accelerate research into new and better OCD treatments.
