Job Description

OTW provides therapeutic activity camps for serioulsy ill children and young people across the UK. We are a member of the Serious Fun Children's Network that was founded by the Hollywood actor and philanthropist, Paul Newman.  

We are now recruiting a Digitial Marketing & Communications Officer to:

  • Manage social media channels, and online communications with campers, supporters and interested parties, developing positive relationships with existing contacts online with the aim to grow engagement and audience following
  • Create and publish engaging content via our range of social media channels and the website blog, news and other web pages
  • Create paid-for advertising on social media in liaison with the Fundraising and Operations teams
  • Oversee key online fundraising campaigns to maximize donations and awareness in conjunction with the Individual Giving Officer, Community Fundraising Officer, and the fundraising department.
  • Manage and set up Google Ads campaigns using our Google Ads Grant scheme in liaison with the Fundraising and Operations teams
  • Measure and report on performance of digital marketing efforts using a variety of web analytics tools e.g. Google Analytics and recommend improvements to the charity website
  • Provide creative and operational support for communication activities, including newsletters and e-newsletters
  • Ensure our style guide and tone of voice is appropriately used in communications, maintaining consistency and brand awareness

Person Specifications 

  • A degree, preferably in a Marketing related field (D)
  • At least 2 years proven experience and passion for digital marketing and helping a small charity grow their online presence and supporter base (E)
  • Experience or good knowledge of Google Ads and Google Analytics (E)
  • Experience or good knowledge of paid-for advertising for Facebook, Instagram and Twitter (E)
  • Comfortable communicating through a wide range of social media platforms (E)
  • Ability to use metrics and provide statistical analysis of the digital audiences, including the number of visits, mentions, sign ups, backlinks and conversions, that provide insight for the Fundraising and Operational Teams (E)
  • Excellent attention to detail, editing and proofing skills (E)
  • Knowledge of CMS, specifically WordPress would be an advantage and a knowledge of SEO (E)
  • Knowledge of Hootsuite (D)
  • Knowledge and experience of Canva (D)
  • Knowledge of online interactive technology (D)
