In this role, you'll be serving customers at the till in our high street charity shop. You'll have a polite and friendly manner, be able to communicate with customers and other volunteers, and be able to follow written and verbal instructions. You'll be using a touch-screen till with a barcode scanner, taking cash and card payments, and also accepting donations and signing donors up to our Gift Aid scheme.
No prior retail experience is necessary as full training is given; however, you should be comfortable with using touch-screen technology (similar to a tablet computer), with counting cash, and with talking to others.
Our volunteers usually stay for four-hour shifts, either 9am-1pm or 1pm-5pm, although we can arrange alternative hours if necessary.
We currently have appropriate PPE available for volunteers, including masks, gloves and hand sanitiser, and have completed a full Covid-19 Risk Assessment. Volunteers are asked to do their part in keeping the shop clean and safe for everyone who visits us.
