About the role:
We are seeking a Digital Lead to join our fantastic Engagement, Marketing & Communications Team! This is a brand-new role and the successful candidate will play a crucial role in helping us drive change for people affected by pancreatic cancer.
As a young charity with big ambitions for growth, we had already recognised that digital was our best route to achieve our goals. The impact of the pandemic has meant that digital is more critical than ever for reaching, engaging and supporting more people. Digital is the main channel to support people affected by pancreatic cancer at scale, a vital way of engaging opinion formers, campaigners and supporters, and a key platform for raising awareness and funds, and generating action.
The Digital Lead is being recruited initially on a two-year contract to focus on two things:
- Having overall responsibility for digital activity across the organisation, developing the current digital programme and managing the current team of two (Digital Manager and Digital Engagement Officer),
- Helping to refine and implement a new digital roadmap for the charity, in the context of our immediate annual plan and longer-term organisational strategy. The role reports into the Head of Engagement, Marketing and Communications.
The Digital Lead will manage and drive forward the digital function for Pancreatic Cancer UK. It is responsible for the strategic planning and management of the charity’s digital and social media channels, overseeing their growth, increasing engagement and ensuring they meet our audiences’ needs.
We’re looking for someone who will be our primary in-house digital expert, with an outstanding track record of inspiring and leading on all things digital. They will have in-depth knowledge and experience of current digital trends, tactics and strategy, be able to advise on digital approaches to help deliver our organisation’s vision and play a crucial role in directing and implementing key digital development projects and campaigns. We need someone to hit the ground running, overseeing a busy schedule of digital activity while working closely with the Head of Engagement, Marketing and Communications and Director of Fundraising and Engagement to shape our digital roadmap and strategy for the future. We are also looking for someone who has previously managed and developed a small team before.

It’s unacceptable that more than half of people diagnosed with pancreatic cancer die within 3 months. Survival rates have improved enormously for most cancers, yet for pancreatic cancer, this is not the case. And, with treatment and care affected by the pandemic, the situation has only got worse.

We offer flexible working and we envisage once Covid restrictions are lifted, this role will be a blend of working from home and working in the office.
Other Terms and Conditions:
Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week (Monday-Friday).
Location: London SE1 (temporarily remote working from home)
