Passion for Sport uses media to introduce sports fans to Jesus.
Passion for Sport traces its roots back to 1991 when missionary radio producers from Reach Beyond reported from the World Student Games in Sheffield. Their sports content with a Christian perspective is so well received they report the following year from the Barcelona Olympic Games in English and Spanish.
As we continue to grow, Passion For Sport reports from major sporting events including the Commonwealth Games, the FIFA World Cup™, ICC Cricket World Cup, IRB Rugby World Cup, All Africa Games, and the IAAF World Championships in Athletics as well as the Olympic Games in Athens, Beijing and London. An increasing number of commercial radio stations broadcast our content, and we add video reports and expand our reach into social media and digital channels.
In 2014, 1,350 radio stations broadcast content we produce in English and Spanish from the FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
We are now looking for at least two new Trustees to compliment the team at an exciting time of change and re-evaluation as the organisation looks at the strategic plan for the next four years.
We have plans to be bold in our strategy of; engaging our audience, encouraging our supporters and equipping our partners, including missional reporting trips to major sporting events from 2019.
Our current board has a wide range of backgrounds and abilities and has the unusual position of all trustees in full-time employment. We are therefore keen to broaden our representative experience to include former charity board members, retired professionals or those with a background in charity governance. We are also keen to hear from those with experience in treasurer and/or HR roles.
Board members must be willing and able to devote the necessary time and effort to fulfil the role of trustee and non-executive director. Duties will include: attendance at board meetings and sub-committee meetings as relevant, visits to the Passion for Sport UK office and ad-hoc support to the other trustees.
Candidates will have an active Christian faith and have an expressed interest in sport.
