Arts SU is a £3.7m charity with a diverse income stream combining commercial operations, grants and fundraising. We exist to help students make friends, learn new skills, have fun and reach their full potential. We aim to help each student make the most of the life-changing experiences open to them as they study and develop their creative practice.
Every UAL student is automatically a member of one of the UK’s most innovative student unions. Anyone can sign up to a student-run society, play for a sports team, campaign to improve their college or simply enjoy low-cost refreshments in our not-for-profit cafes and bar.
We have recently reviewed our purpose and organisational structures. The next 12 months will see us grow our teams and transform our ways of operating as well as design a long new term strategic plan.
We are seeking a Director of Finance to join us at this exciting time. Our financial systems interact with every element of our charity. We want you to help us deliver an inclusive service that is accessible, easy to understand and effective for a wide range of stakeholders.
You will be leading a team of staff and will also act as a key member of our Senior Leadership Team, contributing to organisational wide strategic development.
We are looking for an individual with significant experience in a senior financial position, particularly including interacting, supporting and presenting to boards. You are likely a qualified accountant with a track record of leading and empowering teams.
We are proud to have an equitable working environment. We have recently invested in anti-racism training for all staff and will be thinking about how we can make similar advancements in our ability to support disabled colleagues soon.
Confidence can sometimes hold us back from applying for a job. But we’ll let you in on a secret: there’s no such thing as a ‘perfect’ candidate.
Arts SU is a place where everyone can grow. So however you identify and whatever background you bring with you, please apply if this is a role if it would make you excited to come into work every day.
At Arts SU we are committed to learning and development and as such will support the successful candidate to develop within the role.
As a diversity-conscious organisation, we are keen to encourage applications from women and people from underrepresented ethnic communities.
Though this role is advertised as full-time, we are also committed to work/life balance and wellbeing and would consider flexible or part-time working for the right candidate.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone to build on their experience in a creative and dynamic environment which strives to enhance the student experience, raise the reputation of our students and graduates and be an integral part of the Arts SU team.
