Haven House Children’s Hospice first opened its doors in 2003 with the aim to provide specialist care to babies, children and young people with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions, as well as support for their families, from across North and Northeast London, West Essex and East Herts. Our services have grown significantly and are wide ranging including end-of-life care, symptom management, respite, play and various therapies, as well as practical and emotional support for the wider family members.
Haven House’s 5-year strategy, the ambitious Vision 2020, came to a successful conclusion in 2020 and we were due to agree and announce a new 3-year strategy at that time but that was delayed by Covid-19. With the arrival of our new CEO, work is underway on a new long-term strategy, one that we intend to be equally ambitious in offering more support to more children and families.
Today we support over 400 children each year as well as their families – but we know from research that there remain many families we have not yet been able to reach. Income has continued to grow year-on-year to £5m+ (2020/1 - a record in spite of the challenges of the past year. There is though much more we want to achieve for children and families, and we believe that, with the right leadership, the potential exists for further income growth to enable us to do just that.
The Income Generation & Marketing (IGM) team at Haven House is responsible for raising around 80% of the funds required to run the hospice and its services. It is also responsible for promoting the hospice across its local communities to engage a wide variety of stakeholders in fundraising and volunteering activities. In addition, the team delivers strategic marketing action, support, and advice to raise awareness of our services to both families and statutory partners.
General Job Summary
As the Director of IGM you will be responsible and accountable for the overall leadership and direction of fundraising, retail, marketing, and PR and will play a pivotal role leading the team to achieve their ambitious target.
As a member of the Senior Management Team (SMT) you will support the Chief Executive and the Trustees in the leadership and strategic development of the hospice. Key is to deliver a programme of diverse and risk assessed fundraising activity that maximises sustainable net voluntary income.
You will be comfortable leading from the front, being a visible face of the organisation as ambassador for the hospice, representing the organisation to both internal and external audiences.
We are seeking an experienced senior fundraiser who has exceptional leadership skills who has a flair for creative fundraising and income generation and has had some exposure in working with or leading marketing teams previously.
Suitable candidates will be well versed in creating and implementing successful income generation strategies and have experience in achieving income growth.
Candidates do not have to have a background in the hospice sector but will certainly bring a passion and understanding of the incredible role hospices play in the community.
