up to £70,000 ( slaray is negotiable)
Permanent, Full-time
Job description

At First Give, we ignite sparks of social conscience in young people, so they contribute to a world where everyone is encouraged to engage in regular philanthropic citizenship. We’re looking for an Interim Director (CEO) to continue the great work of our charity during a period of maternity cover.

We are looking for an interim leader on a fixed-term basis while our current Director, Louisa Searle, takes maternity leave. The position will broadly cover the 2022-2023 academic year, with the aim of providing continuity of the work that Louisa has led since 2017.

The Interim Director will support the smooth running of our charity, whilst proactively seeking to add to our growing list of participating schools across England and Wales. We are looking for an person who has a strong track record in seeking out opportunities and delivering on them so we can increase our reach. We have some exciting pilot projects that we will welcome your involvement in, all with a view to expanding our reach and national impact.

With this opportunity being fixed term until July 2023, it is paramount that you can build relationships with our Trustee Board, funders, donors, and stakeholders, quickly and effectively. We are planning for a handover period with Louisa to ensure this happens. Building a successful working relationship with our experienced and brilliant team of staff will be instrumental in contributing to our success over this next year, and laying the foundations for growth beyond it.

The Trustee Board would like to appoint an Interim Director with a broad and successful track record in charity leadership. This opportunity is likely to suit someone looking for a change in their career, or an experienced interim charity leader, or consultant. We believe that someone who has led managers and their teams previously and worked with a Trustee Board would be very helpful, alongside having overseen socially-focused services which are aligned to strategic aims.

Whilst we are confident the majority of our income is secure, we have bold ambitions, and so having an Interim Director who is experienced in meeting the necessary income generation targets, to allow us to continue to expand the work we do with schools, would be helpful.

As the successful candidate, you will also be the public-facing champion of First Give, helping to build our relationships, with funders, leaders in education and beyond. You will need to be as comfortable working with young people, trustees, schools and charities, as you will be working with stakeholders such as high-net-worth individuals and trusts and foundations to identify and secure funding opportunities. Our Interim Director must embody our values, recognise the value and the potential of our product, and be passionate about making impactful positive changes.
