About the role

Orbis UK is offering the role of Senior Finance Officer, as the organisation seeks to grow and build on past successes to reach its target of achieving £10m income in the next 5 years.

This role is vital in order to support a highly performing group of staff as we seek to transform lives through the prevention and treatment of blindness. This role will sit within the Finance Team, which is responsible for the day-to-day finance operations of the organisation supporting both the Finance Manager and the Director of Finance and Operations in processing payments, payroll, journals, bank reconciliations and other key financial tasks needed for the successful running of a small international charity.

This is an ideal role for someone who has an appetite for growth in their skills and knowledge and who has an aptitude for process and structure, which is critical when helping to manage the resources of an organisation, ensuring financial discipline and effective controls are maintained throughout. This role would be perfect for any candidate looking to further their career in finance and accountancy and you will be supported by a team of experienced accountants to guide and train you as well as provide you with plenty of development and learning opportunities, especially in pursuit of an accountancy qualification.

Working within a team where new ideas are promoted and encouraged under an experienced Finance Manager, this role provides the perfect opportunity for the postholder to take ownership and make demonstrable change within a thriving international NGO.

We are looking for someone who has excellent, demonstrable financial acumen and experience, excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, who can demonstrate an ability to learn with a thirst for new ideas. A high degree of IT proficiency is important as the organisation seeks to use technology, including Artificial Intelligence, to work more effectively for the achievement of growth in the organisation. Knowledge of the NGO sector is desirable, but we are open to applications from across disciplines and expertise if you can demonstrate your aptitude for the role with a hunger to learn. The main responsibilities of this role are:

• To provide effective financial support to the Finance team and the wider organisation to ensure the smooth running of the charity.
• To ensure business continuity is maintained through the management of the purchase ledger function, including BACS, online banking payments and the review of expenses and credit card payments, payroll, income and bank reconciliations and other key tasks needed to ensure financial reporting can be made on schedule and in line with statutory, audit and trustee deadlines.
• To be organised, have excellent attention to detail and the ability to prioritise and manage a changing workload.

The Berkshire and Hampshire Borders (BHB) Methodist Circuit is a network of twenty-five churches across western Berkshire and northern Hampshire, united by a vision to proclaim God's love as a justice-seeking community. As Operations Manager, you'll be the backbone supporting our work. Working with the Leadership Team, you'll coordinate the operational infrastructure that keeps twenty-five autonomous churches running — from property and finance to safeguarding and compliance — empowering churches and outreach staff to deliver high-quality support to church members and vulnerable people.

The Role
You'll provide operational guidance and support to the Circuit Leadership Team and Circuit Meeting (Trustees), attending meetings and preparing reports on governance matters. You'll manage the Circuit Finance Officer, ensuring sound accounting practices, financial controls, and reporting. Across property, you'll oversee 19 houses — coordinating quinquennial inspections, maintenance plans, manse preparation for incoming ministers, externally managed letting of surplus properties, and professional appointments for sales and purchases. You'll also support energy and telecoms contract negotiations.

In safeguarding, you'll co-lead the Circuit Safeguarding Team, coordinate training, and maintain records of DBS checks. For health and safety, you'll guide churches on policies, risk assessments, and fire safety, with professional support as needed. On EDI, you'll maintain awareness of Methodist policy, coordinate training, and promote inclusive practice. You'll line manage the Administration Finance Officer and Administration Officer.

Person Specification

Essential

• At least 2–4 years’ relevant professional experience, ideally within an NGO, charity, public interest or mission-driven organisation.
• Experience supporting financial administration, including invoices, expenses, payment processing or financial record-keeping.

At HT Church Cambridge, we’re looking for someone to be responsible for all aspects of our church finances. As Finance Officer, you will be directly or indirectly responsible for all aspects of church finances – from managing the day-to-day running of the church finances to ensuring all transactions are posted and reconciled, producing timely, accurate, and insightful monthly financial information, and working with the auditors to produce a set of audited accounts at the end of the financial year.

While you will be day-to-day line managed by the Operations Director, you will work closely with the Treasurer, who will oversee you and advise you on financial aspects of your work.

You will join an SMT of four, working alongside the Director of Programmes and Impact and the Director of Philanthropy and Partnerships, led by the CEO. Key Responsibilities 

• Play an active role in SMT – contributing operational and financial insight to organisational planning, strategy development, and decision-making alongside the CEO and senior leadership team. 

• Lead finance oversight and board reporting: overseeing monthly and quarterly management accounts, leading the annual budget-setting process, owning the audit cycle, and preparing papers for the Finance, Audit and Risk Governance (FARG) Committee. 

• Own HR policy and governance: maintaining Envision's HR framework, handling complex employee relations matters, and overseeing the full employee lifecycle with execution led by the Business Admin and Finance Officer. 

• Line manage the Finance Manager and Business Admin and Finance Officer, providing clear direction and developing a high-performing team. 

• Lead operational improvement: conducting a review of processes and systems, building a live improvement register, and implementing agreed changes through to completion – not just to proposal. 

• Explore and pilot AI and automation tools for high-friction tasks. Genuine curiosity and willingness to experiment matters more than technical expertise. 

• Hold compliance and risk governance oversight – GDPR, Health and Safety, regulatory filings – ensuring a clear calendar of requirements is owned and met. 

Essential Experience, Knowledge and Competencies 

• Qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent), or demonstrable equivalent finance expertise. 

• Proven experience in a senior operational leadership role with finance oversight responsibility. 

• Experience of audit management and board-level financial reporting. 

• Track record of leading and developing small teams. 

• Working knowledge of GDPR and charity compliance obligations. 

• Demonstrable ability to operate at a strategic and governance level 

• Experience leading operational process or systems improvement, from diagnosis through to implementation. 

• Active interest in AI and automation tools, with a practical approach to exploring and applying them.

The role:

Main purpose of the job

• To support the organisation’s day-to-day finance, HR and impact data administration. This includes maintaining and strengthening financial controls, contributing to monthly and year-end financial processes, and supporting with finance/HR reports as required.

Main Purpose of the Job

The Trusts and Appeals Relationships Manager’s job is to be the ‘go to’ person for trusts and grant making bodies who may support Treetops. They will generate income for Treetops by building strong and lasting relationships with existing and potential trust and grant giving organisation through submitting strong applications to them and reporting back to them in an effective way.

You will also run an appeal programme across channels including online, offline and post and liaise with suppliers and contractors. You’ll understand and define audiences, think creatively about how we can reach them, write compellingly about our services and those we support, and you’ll make our supporters feel really appreciated so they want to give again.

Primary Responsibilities

The post holder will:

· Develop, implement and continually evaluate the trust and grant application strategy to maximise potential income from both regular and new trusts and foundations.

· Understand the organisational funding needs including core funding, projects, and capital expenditure.

· Research potential trust funders (local, regional, national, and if appropriate international).

The Role
