Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Gender in Emergencies Advisor to join the Disaster Risk Management Unit (DRMU) at Plan International UK, to support the development of Plan International UK’s disasters and emergencies portfolio.

  • Contributing to engagement with country offices and with relevant internal and external gender working groups
  • Working closely with a key multilateral partner and its membership to develop tools, guidance and training that support the promotion of high quality gender mainstreamed education programming in humanitarian settings.

You will have both direct in-country experience of designing and implementing projects and programming and strong experience of creating change around gender sensitive and transformative programming at field and global level. You’ll also have proven experience of designing, delivering and monitoring girl centred programmes in a range of different emergencies, including remote management/restricted access. An understanding of institutional donors’ requirements and operating styles, how to win funding and the ability to communicate powerfully and persuasively with policy makers and the humanitarian community is essential.
