Job description

The Organisation

Plan International is an independent development and humanitarian organisation that advances children’s rights and equality for girls. We believe in the power and potential of every child. But this is often suppressed by poverty, violence, exclusion and discrimination. And it’s girls who are most affected. Working together with children, young people, our supporters and partners, we strive for a just world, tackling the root causes of the challenges facing girls and all vulnerable children. We support children’s rights from birth until they reach adulthood. And we enable children to prepare for – and respond to – crises and adversity. We drive changes in practice and policy at local, national and global levels using our reach, experience and knowledge. We have been building powerful partnerships for children for over 80 years and are now active in more than 70 countries.

The Opportunity

This position, as part of the senior leadership in the Group Finance Department, acts as a functional lead and expert in financial accounting with global responsibilities. The role encompasses responsibility for management oversight of key functional tasks in finance globally across Plan International countries.

You will ensure compliance with International Financial Reporting standards for Plan Worldwide reporting purposes and also compliance with donor reporting across our complex and demanding institutional donor portfolio, including USAID and the Uniform Guidance audit.

You will manage and develop the Group Financial reporting team whilst working in a technical matrix relationship with all Regional and Country finance positions to deliver on results.

The Individual

We are looking to recruit an individual with good leadership and influencing skills who has an ACA or equivalent professional qualification with significant post qualification experience. You will have a strong knowledge and experience of applying financial controls and you will ideally have experience in using SAP BPC and SAP’s Finance module.

It is essential that you can manage and prioritise multiple demands and tasks to meet deadlines. You will also be able to work well with others and demonstrate a high level of adaptability and cultural and contextual sensitivity.

To be successful in this role you will have the ability to work on your initiative and take ownership for the completion of tasks. You will be able to communicate clearly and effectively at all levels whilst promoting continuous improvement, innovation and learning.
