Contract, Part-time
Job description

What is Plant Your Future?

Plant Your Future is an international environmental charity working to help empower smallholder farmers to restore deforested farmland in the Peruvian Amazon Rainforest with productive tree-based agriculture.

We've developed a proven model that helps poor smallholder farmers break the cycle of poverty and low yields, by planting trees through agroforestry and generating sustainable income from fruit, timber and carbon credits. Our work is not only an effective way to tackle climate change, but it also reduces the deforestation pressure on the rainforest and helps protect irreplaceable biodiversity, including threatened animal and bird species. To date we have helped rural communities plant and maintain 40,000 healthy and productive trees in the Loreto and Ucayali Region of the Peruvian Amazon.

We want to do more

As a small and young charity, you will be our first — and sole — paid fundraiser who will bring fundraising experience to help us develop a new Fundraising Strategy built around our overall strategy. There is a growing national interest in tree planting in the tropics as a means to tackling climate change, and so we are keen to build on the recent momentum in terms of personal giving. As well as this, we also want to continue and build on the success of our Trust and Foundation fundraising in the past. We anticipate this being a major part of the Fundraising Strategy and so a significant part of your role will be to write applications for existing Trust and Foundation targets as well as identify new opportunities.

The role is home-based, although ability to travel to donor meetings, events and to meetings with the PYF Trustees is expected. And as this is a part-time role, we can offer flexibility in terms of when hours are worked across the week.

For further details please see attached job specification.

How to apply:

Apply online with CharityJob using a cover letter and CV explaining why you want to work with Plant Your Future and the expertise you will bring to this role. Further detals are included in the job specification.
