Job Title:           Play Therapy Manager

Hours:                0.7 (3.5 days per week)

Salary:               £32,000 - £35,000 (pro-rata)

Reports to:        Clinical Manager

Location:           Brockley, London

We are seeking a qualified Play Therapist to lead our Play Therapy work.  Mosac provides holistic support to families of victims of Child Sexual Abuse. The Play Therapy Manager will spend the majority of their time working 1-2-1 with child victims of Child Sexual Abuse in play therapy sessions. The remaining part of the time will focus on overseeing sessional Play Therapists and the design, development and evaluation of service.

We are seeking a committed, empathetic and resilient clinician and manager, experienced in dealing with high levels of client trauma, to manager our Play Therapy Service

You will be a qualified Play Therapist with at least 5 years experience of working with children in traumatic situations. 

Three days of the week will be spent in clinical work with children who have experienced Child Sexual Abuse. The remaining half day will be supporting and overseeing sessional Play Therapist and working with the clinical manager and CEO to design, develop and evaluate the service. 

Due to the nature of the client group, the play therapy sessions normally run from late morning to early evening. 

 

Mosac Background

Mosac has been delivering unique support services for the families of victims of Child Sexual Abuse (CSA) for nearly 30 years. In a safe environment, we offer free services to families affected by CSA, all of whom are vulnerable with some being excluded, or facing other forms of hardship.  Mosac’s services include a national Helpline, Counselling (face to face and online), Play Therapy, Advocacy & Advice and Parent Training  We enable families to achieve and sustain an improved quality of life by rebuilding confidence, alleviating isolation, improving well-being and resilience, promoting inclusion and empowering individuals to move on with their lives, with the skills and knowledge to safeguard themselves and their children in the future.

Play Therapy Service

Our Play therapy service is part of our holistic family support model. The protective parents/guardian/carers of the child victims are supported with their own therapy while their children are in Play Therapy. Our play therapy work currently takes place in our office in South East London from Monday - Thursday. We see approximately 30 children a week, our clients are aged between 4-17yrs, with the average client currently 8 years old. 

We currently have a sibling therapist to enable us to work with siblings at the same time. We are also developing new offers of support including Filial Play Therapy that we are looking to roll out both as a face-to-face and online service. We are also looking to develop family therapy as a face-to-face service at our office in South East London. 

Role Description and Key Responsibilities

  • Provide play therapy sessions for victims of Child Sexual Abuse 

  • Support and oversee the work of sessional therapists (in future other team members)

  • Work with the Clinical Manager and  CEO to grow and develop the department by developing partnerships, raising additional funding and consulting with internal and external stakeholders to support service design. 

  • Manage the waiting list and lead on initial discussions and assessments of new clients 

  • Lead on the evaluation and monitoring of the department’s work 

  • Input into funding and service reports for funders and board

  • Work collaboratively with other Mosac Service Managers and existing clients to provide support that is tailored to suit the needs our clients

  • Attending regular clinical Supervision, supported by Mosac

  • Attending regular Mosac staff and team meeting

  • Carrying out any other reasonable duties required from time to time by the charity

Person Specification:

Essential Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • Qualified Play Therapist with at least 5 years experience

  • Experience of working with clients who have experienced high levels of trauma

  • Experience of supporting and overseeing other therapists 

  • Experience of family and filial play therapy (or be willing to undertake training)

  • High level communication skills, including experience of communicating effectively across cultures and with diverse audiences, both verbally and in writing

  • Excellent IT skills – with a good knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel

  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
