Key Responsibilities

• Lead public affairs activity across Westminster and the devolved nations

Hybrid working expectations: London office attendance at least one day per week, in line with any in-person meetings. Able to be in Westminster regularly and at short notice, and available for occasional evening and weekend work.

We are now looking to appoint a Deputy Director to help steer that work and further drive the development of the Coalition. You will work closely with the Executive Director (ED) to lead our influencing work at the highest level, strengthening our policy platform, and ensuring we translate evidence into meaningful impact. At the same time, you will play a pivotal role in supporting a talented and experienced team and shape the continued growth of the Coalition as a charitable organisation.

About The Role

• Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week over 5 days. We may consider 4 days per week.
• Duration: Two-year contract, renewed subject to funding.
• Location: Home-working but based in or near London.

We are a remote team, with most colleagues based outside London. This role requires regular access to Westminster, so you will need to be based in or within easy reach of London.

We work flexibly and understand the realities of balancing work with caring commitments. We trust you to manage your time but expect that most of your hours are worked within core office hours to fulfil the requirements of the role. To support fluent remote working, we require all staff to work on Thursdays.

This is a dual role, delivering our policy, engagement and public affairs strategy while also supporting the Executive Director to grow the Coalition as an organisation and movement. You will play a central role in shaping the Coalition’s strategy, culture and growth. This is a senior, outward-facing role, suited to someone who can think strategically, build influence at the highest levels, and remain hands-on within a small and ambitious team.

About You

You are a senior public affairs professional with a strong track record of strategic influencing and engagement to shape policy. You bring robust judgement and credibility and are motivated by the opportunity to deliver meaningful change in a high-profile policy area and may have experience on public-service reform.

You are equally comfortable setting direction and delivering through others as you are rolling up your sleeves to respond to fast-moving political developments. You are a confident relationship-builder who can operate effectively at senior levels, while working collaboratively across a diverse coalition.

You should have previous experience of managing functions and teams and working in senior leadership teams. Ideally you will be live to the challenges of working in a small, but high-impact national organisation and have experience of scaling teams and functions.

What You Can Expect To Be Doing

• Executive leadership
  This will include supporting the ED with key senior stakeholder relationships including funders, ministers and policymakers. You will be required to deputise for the ED during periods of leave or when directed to do so. This is a pivotal role which straddles the executive and senior leadership functions. Consequently, you will be expected to make decisions that balance multiple interests and help scale and grow the Coalition as a sustainable organisation.
• Lead the Coalition’s policy and influencing function
  Work with the Senior Leadership Team and Coalition members to turn evidence into clear, credible policy positions and priorities, ensuring members are aligned, informed and able to contribute.
• Develop and deliver a cross-party influencing strategy
  Building on the Coalition’s profile, you will further nurture and maintain relationships with MPs, peers, special advisers, civil servants and key stakeholders, ensuring strong reach across Westminster, local government and the wider policy community.
• Maximise key moments for impact
  Identify and respond to opportunities in the parliamentary and policy cycle to maximise influence, including producing briefings, consultation responses and submissions.
• Oversee policy-related events to support engagement
  Lead activity such as events, roundtables and party conference attendance to strengthen the Coalition’s visibility and impact.
• Align policy, public affairs, research and communications
  Work closely with the Head of Communications and Campaigns, and the Associate Director of Research to ensure a joined-up approach across research, influencing, media and campaigning.
• Represent the Coalition externally
  Act as a senior spokesperson at high-level meetings, events, and in the media where appropriate.
• Strengthen how we measure impact
  Work with the Executive Director to further develop our impact framework, improving how we track, evaluate and communicate influence.
• Lead and develop the team
  Provide support to team members, fostering a collaborative, inclusive and high-performing culture.

Person Specification

Essential

• Experience of leading a team or working at executive/senior leadership levels where you have managed budgets and had to make decisions related to organisational effectiveness. This should also include demonstrable experience of building and nurturing teams that can deliver an organisational strategy.
• Proven experience leading influencing functions in an advocacy or policy environment and delivering change
• Experience turning research and insight into clear, credible and persuasive policy positions.
• Knowledge of system change approaches, ideally within public service reform or similar
• Knowledge of how Government, Parliament, Whitehall, political parties and the wider policy community operate, and how to navigate them effectively.
• Able to operate confidently in complex, fast-moving and politically sensitive environments, working across party lines with diplomacy.
• Demonstrable experience building and maintaining trusted relationships with politicians, advisers, officials and sector leaders.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience producing high-quality briefings and representing organisations externally.
• Experience of supporting fundraising activities either through relationship-building or bid-writing.

Desirable

• Understanding of early education and childcare policy in England and the challenges currently facing the system.
• Experience working in or with coalitions, membership organisations or alliances.
• Proven ability to work flexibly as part of a small, remote team.

We're looking for a digital leader. To us, that means you’ll be able to advise clients on how to align their digital presence with their organisational goals. You’ll know what good looks like, and you’ll have the interpersonal skills to explain and convince others of your views.

Ever-curious, you’re the kind of person that is always looking for opportunities to make digital deliver for clients. You'll have an instinctive sense of what will (and won't) work on various platforms (websites, data platforms, Substacks, etc.), how they should complement each other and what it means to build an engaged online audience. 

You'll have that instinct because you've done it before: you know how to set digital/design KPIs and manage a team to meet those targets; you’ve run enough website build processes to do it in your sleep, and you know how to identify things a client should do, and explain to them why they should invest in doing them.

You’ll have a number of responsibilities from day one. You’ll take over advising our largest digital clients and be responsible for supporting them in their mission. 

You’ll be the new business lead for any strategy projects that require digital infrastructure – that means identifying what needs to change, writing those ideas into proposals, and pitching them. And you will own the digital roadmap for client content-led platforms, ensuring that the content isn’t just ‘published’ but drives audience growth.

You’ll be managing a team of developers to ensure the final product delivers on the strategic vision. While you may have a technical background, it’s worth being clear that this is not a technical role and we are not looking for exclusively technical candidates.

The challenge

Our clients work in the front line of campaigning to make the world a better place. Their websites are often the first thing funders and policymakers will check to see how legitimate or credible an organisation is. Nothing kills credibility faster than a website that loads slowly, categorises content in a way that no-one outside the organisation understands, or a site where the design is just… bad.

The challenge is that too many policy websites prioritise internal audiences over external. Rather than thinking “what does policymaker X need to see?”, the question is “what do senior management want to see on the website?” This leads to websites that are an output in themselves, rather than websites that lead to outcomes.

Your job is to ensure that all our digital workstreams avoid that trap; that they prioritise outcomes (hard to do), over simple outputs (anyone can do).

What we are looking for: 

• Someone who prizes outcomes over outputs, and knows how to adapt their approach to achieve best results. 

• Clear leadership of a digital function–in a consultancy, a nonprofit, or another relevant organisation.

• A consultative approach: you’re able to identify problems, solutions and opportunities, and convince others of your point of view.

• Commercial and revenue management experience.

• Experience managing a team, and an understanding of how to get the best out of different types of people in that team.

• An understanding of the policy landscape and know how to use digital platforms to move the needle with policymakers, media, and other stakeholders.

About the role

An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join the Employee Relations and Union Services in the CSP as a full time Senior Negotiating Officer (SNO) for the West Midlands region. This is a challenging, but very enjoyable role which will see you: 

• Supporting, advising and training the network of stewards, safety representatives and equality representatives in the West Midlands region. 
• Advising and supporting stewards to manage their own casework, whilst managing your own caseload of employment relations issues, including but not limited to dicisplinaries, grievances, sickness absence, HCPC and legal cases. 
• Attending and representing the CSP at strategic regional forums such as regional Social Partnership Forum’s and Integrated Care Board’s/Integrated Care System’s.

We are looking for an individual with significant experience and a background in the trade union movement. They should be dedicated to achieving the best outcomes for members and to building the membership and activism levels in the CSP.

You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to problem solve. You will also have experience in advocacy and representing members and have a thorough understanding of the current issues facing CSP members. You will also be expected to be able to display excellent trade union knowledge.

Too many children and young people do not have access to an education that enables their full potential. With the markers for change set out by government in the recent White Paper and accompanying SEND reform consultation, the nasen membership tells us that change needs to come now.

Main purpose of the job

To lead and coordinate Bond’s UK G20 strategy and engagement by developing and delivering a multi‑year workplan. The role will convene and support Bond members and global majority civil society to shape shared policy positions, driving external advocacy and government engagement on the G20 agenda, overseeing communications and campaigns inputs and managing the resources, reporting, and partnerships needed to ensure effective UK civil society influence on the G20 through 2027.

Main responsibilities

Lead on planning and coordination of UK G20 work within Bond, including:

• Leading on developing a strategy and workplan guiding activities on G20, covering the period to end of 2027.
• Leading internal coordination within Bond to bring together relevant teams and staff to deliver on the strategy and workplan.
• Track delivery of the G20 strategy and workplan and reporting to Director of PAR.
• Update Bond staff on G20 activities and providing regular updates to the Senior Management Team and the Board. 
•  Liaise with the formal civil 20 (C20) advisory group to prepare for the UK’s G20.

Lead convening and coordination of Bond members and global majority civil society actors on G20, including:

• Establishing/identifying processes for communicating with and convening Bond members on UK G20 work.
• Producing and sharing regular written updates for Bond members on G20 work.
• Organising regular meetings of Bond members to develop policy positions and influencing strategies and prepare for engagements with government.
• Develop and collaborate with a network of key global majority civil society partners in developing policy positions for the UK G20.
• Producing written products presenting Bond member and civil society positions on the UK G20.

Play a leading role on G20 external affairs activities, including:

• Lead on identifying and pursuing advocacy opportunities for Bond and its members targeting UK government on G20 agenda. 
• Organising regular meetings of Bond members with key government officials, across HMT, Cabinet Office and FCDO.
• Supporting Bond’s relationship management and engagement with Cabinet Office, FCDO, HMT and other relevant departments on G20 agenda. 
• Identifying and pursuing opportunities to build relationships and develop collaborations with other relevant UK bodies - including think tanks and research organisations, trade unions, faith groups and related campaigns groups - on the G20.
• Identifying and pursuing opportunities to build relationships and develop strategic and focussed collaborations with organisations leading other formal G20 engagement groups.

Input to media, communications and campaigns work on the G20, including:

• Working with the Head of Media and Comms to design and implement a communications strategy for Bond’s G20 work and support Bond's wider communications objectives.
• Collaborating with the media adviser to produce quotes and OpEds on G20 and to organise press briefings. 
• Producing member updates, blogs and briefings for communicating Bond work and positions on G20.
• Working closely with the campaigns lead to support member engagement and coordination and implementation of key activities when required.
• Provide policy advice and inputs for campaigns activities.

Provide significant support for personnel and financial resource management, donor reporting and fundraising for G20 work, including:

• Supporting staff members contributing to G20 and global reforms work to plan their activities and track and report on delivery 
• Act as budget holder for relevant restricted and unrestricted budgets funding G20 and wider global reforms work, including supporting liaison with funders 
• Work with finance to produce timely and accurate internal and external (for donors) financial reports
• Supporting ongoing fundraising for G20 and wider global reforms work, including inputting to proposals and joining meetings with donors

About the role
We are recruiting for a Senior Research Manager to join on a full-time, permanent contract working 35 hours per week. This is a home-based role, with occasional travel required for conferences, events and in-person stakeholder or team meetings.

As Senior Research Manager, you will lead our Research Grants & Involvement team, creating an environment where people feel supported, empowered and able to contribute their best work. In doing so, you will contribute to the development and delivery of our ambitious research strategy, ensuring that our research funding programme supports the highest quality dementia research, informed at every stage by those with lived experience.

You will lead a collaborative and purpose-driven team, working at the forefront of research that has the potential to transform lives. This is a highly visible and strategic role providing expert input across all aspects of dementia research, including our own funding portfolio, to contribute towards our organisational priorities.

You will use your knowledge of the dementia research landscape to identify emerging trends and opportunities and shape our research funding programme. Using your extensive experience in grants management, you will ensure that our funding schemes meet the needs of the dementia research community, that our processes align with best practice and ultimately, that the research we support achieves meaningful outcomes for those affected by dementia.

About you
Joining us, you’ll possess relevant experience or education qualification in a relevant biomedical or health discipline, with extensive experience in research grants management, ideally in a medical research charity or similar funding organisation.

To be successful in this role, you’ll need to have good knowledge of the UK research funding landscape and research ecosystem, ideally in dementia. You’ll also have experience of embedding or supporting public involvement in research, or working in a co-production environment.

Travel Requirements:

To consider complaints with reference to the CIOF Member Code of Conduct and the Code of Behaviour at events, consistent with the CIOF Complaints & Disciplinary Rules. 

Accountability

Panels will be convened as needed by the Professional Conduct Committee.  Panel Pool members are appointed to a Panel by the Committee. 

Panel decisions must follow the CIOF Complaints & Disciplinary Rules, including definitions, scope, procedures, and available sanctions. 

Key Responsibilities

• Review case files, investigation reports, submissions, and evidence in advance of hearings. 
• Participate in hearings (virtual or in person), ensuring parties are treated fairly and respectfully. 
• Assess evidence against the CIOF Member Code of Conduct, CIOF Code of Behaviour at Events and Training, and any other relevant provisions, such as findings of the Fundraising Regulator. 
• Determine findings of fact and whether standards/rules have been breached. Where appropriate, apply appropriate sanctions per the Complaints and Disciplinary Rules, considering proportionality and precedent. 
• Provide clear, reasoned written outcomes and recommendations, mindful of publication protocols and confidentiality. 
• Maintain strict confidentiality.

Person Specification

Essential

• An understanding of the UK fundraising sector.
• Sound judgment, integrity, and the ability to analyse complex evidence and apply standards consistently. 
• Commitment to CIOF values and to promoting a safe, inclusive environment free from discrimination and harassment. 
• Independence of mind; willingness to challenge and be challenged constructively. 

Desirable

• Knowledge of the Code of Fundraising Practice and CIOF Codes and charity sector regulation. 
• Experience working with trauma-informed approaches and safeguarding best practice. 
• Prior service on panels or committees dealing with complaints, professional conduct, or disciplinary matters. 
• Willingness to chair the panel if required.

Time Commitment

Time will be needed to prepare for and attend Panel meetings, in addition to attending training.

The number of Disciplinary Panels required will depend on the number and nature of the complaints received. It is possible that Panel Pool members will not be required to attend any Panel meetings.

Term & status

Appointment is to the Panel pool for a fixed term of three years, renewable once by agreement, with allocation to specific Panels on a case-by-case basis. 

Full training will be provided.

Remuneration

This is an independent contractor role. Panel members will be remunerated for their time spent on Panel activity, including training, at a daily rate of £300 per day.

Reasonable expenses will be reimbursed in line with CIoF policy.

The Centre for Progressive Change is looking for a Safe Sick Pay Campaign Director that will be part of the newly formed Executive Team. This is an exciting time to be joining the campaign, as we capitalise on our successes so far and plan for our next big policy gain - increasing the rate of Statutory Sick Pay.

This role will be in charge of the Safe Sick Pay campaign including the strategy to see an increase in the rate of Statutory Sick Pay, fundraising to implement the strategy, hiring campaign team members, supporting the team to implement the strategy, holding the key stakeholder relationships, driving the campaign, and delivering parts of the campaign where needed.

As a member of the Executive Team, they will be part of the team responsible for the strategy, structure, team, culture and finances of the organisation.

Salary: £66,000 - £76,000 starting salary based on experience

Hours: Full-time

Working Rhythm: We work in sprints - working for about 6-7 weeks and then taking time off during the Parliamentary recesses. We offer 40-days of annual leave (including bank holidays).
