Based in the University of Oxford’s Development and Alumni Engagement department, the Prospect Research Team drives the ambitious fundraising activities of the University. It does this in a number of ways, and the major focus of this role is on the team’s work in carrying out due diligence research as part of the University’s donations acceptance process.
About the role:

Main duties
This position will offer variation covering many duties within Finance.
- You will have responsibility for key aspects of financial and management reporting and control to deliver timely and reliable reporting.
- You will assist the current Assistant Management Accountant, Purchase Ledger Clerk and Payroll Assistant on a daily basis.
- The post-holder will, on a regular basis, liaise directly with each finance team member and report to the Head of Finance.
- Assist in the sales ledger, which involves verifying orders and updating the finance system (Accounts IQ). Additionally sending out relevant invoices via email or accessing customer portals.
- Assist the purchase ledger, including matching invoices with purchase orders and obtaining approvals from relevant managers. This information is then recorded in Accounts IQ. Also onboarding new suppliers in Accounts IQ and verifying bank details.
- Perform credit control checks.
- Assist with the monthly payroll cycle.
- Input month-end journal entries.
- Conduct bank reconciliations.
- Assisting with month-end management accounts and reporting.
- Assist in analysing the Profit and Loss accounts.
- Assist with Balance Sheet reconciliations.
- Support year-end audit.
- Any ad-hoc tasks.

We are looking for a Fundraising Manager to work predominantly on the Warm Welcome Campaign, whilst also supporting wider fundraising efforts within the Good Faith Partnership. Joining during an exciting period of growth, you will be inheriting a pipeline of passionate funders who have supported the establishment and rapid growth of the Warm Welcome Campaign since 2022. You will be responsible for securing significant income for the Warm Welcome Campaign from a variety of sources, mainly from Grant-making bodies. Reporting to the Development Director, you will work closely with them and other Senior Directors to maximise income potential.

You will use your knowledge and understanding of housing associations and their finances to build strong relationships with Finance Directors across our membership, and use their and your specialist knowledge to shape the financial environment so that housing associations can best deliver on their social purpose.
Whether this is making a persuasive and evidence-based case to the government for additional grant funding to build new homes, or working with sector experts on the detail of accounting, pensions, tax or treasury policy, or meeting with banks, lenders, ratings agencies, UK Finance, HMRC, and the Treasury on behalf of our members, this role is central to our work influencing national social housing policy.

Key elements of the role:
· Shape and lead our policy work on key strategic issues for housing associations around housing finance – advocating for solutions and mitigating risks that affect the delivery of housing associations’ social purpose;
· Develop evidence and ideas on technical policy areas into salient policy solutions that will make a difference for the sector and influence government;
· Represent the NHF to senior colleagues in government, members and external stakeholders with credibility, expertise and political judgement;
· Communicate with and provide advice to members on critical changes to policy and the external environment.
The successful candidate:
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:
· A strong and in-depth understanding of housing association finances and the operating model of housing associations (finance qualifications are not required, but a technical understanding of finance and accounting issues will be vital);
· An ability to lead the development of credible, robust, evidence based policy, including on complex and technical policy areas;
· An ability to communicate credibly, clearly and persuasively in writing and in person including to Chief Executives, senior government officials and finance professionals;
· An ability to draft, oversee, adapt and deliver complex plans for the delivery of multiple projects or programmes of work.
