Peer Support Co-ordinator x 2: Plymouth (Part-time position) and Torbay (Full-time position) 


Contract type: Contract (currently funded to March 2023)  

Hours:  Full Time & Part Time opportunities available  

Salary:   £25,569 (£20,455 pro rata for 30 hrs/4 days per week)   

Location: Currently home-based with some office working and regular travel in Plymouth (Part-time position) and Torbay (Full-time position) and Devon as needed

Do you enjoy supporting people and making a difference to their lives? POP and Torbay Community Development Trust works with the Positive People project to enable people furthest from the labour market to progress to volunteering, work or training but also to feel part of a support community with us and their own community of interest. We do this through giving people the opportunity to be part of a peer support network, offering a self-development learning programme and a range of activities to help increase confidence and skills.  


As Peer Support Co-ordinator, you will work with the Community Enabler and Positive People team to further develop a suite of activities, including 1:1 sessions, group work, activities, volunteering, learning / training packages and employment support (utilising partner programmes and services) 


The role will involve:  

  • Assisting in the development and co-ordination of a peer support project for people furthest from the labour market 

  • Ensuring all activities are recorded and monitored and report progress against targets relevant to the post/project 

  • Ensuring that all practice embodies strengths-based practice and personal learning principles, qualities, values and standards. This will include ensuring that peers are at all times leading and defining their learning and development needs and are supported to achieve their personal outcomes 

  • Supporting the recruitment, training and support of peers including the provision and receipt of regular supervision and coaching meetings   

  • Playing a full and active role in the wider Positive People, POP, Torbay Community Development Trust teams to ensure our work is the best it can be  


Experience required:  

  • Previous experience of working in the voluntary/ community or charity sector in particular with peers/volunteers in a supportive capacity 

  • Experience of a role of supporting others to achieve positive wellbeing, i.e. supporting mentoring or signposting 

  • Experience in the assessment of peer/volunteer needs using supervision and appraisal 

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills – including delivering group work and training 

  • Understanding of the need for flexibility, creativity and adaptability in the learning environment
