We are looking to create a PopUp Youth Service in London that we can take anywhere across London for young people aged 13 to 19 years old to take part in and engage, bringing youth work to where young people are and to where it’s needed.
Government cuts have killed off youth work in London since 2010 with over 104 centres being closed down and 562 youth worker jobs being lost and often the dreams of young people going with it, leaving young people often with no-where to turn and the increase of anti-social behaviour, crime and also young people’s mental health on the increase.
It is also estimated that this financial year (2019/20) alone, another huge £1m cuts are being issued by the Government.
We want to do something about this and so we want to create a new London based PopUp Youth Service that we can take to young people where they need it, helping to booster existing services and help by filling in gaps in service provision where needed.
We are on the lookout for a volunteer who can run PopUp Youth as the Director managing every aspect of the project, including providing strategic direction and planning, supporting the frontline team to ensure they have all the needed resources, networking and spreading the word, bid writing and making contacts to enhance the work of PopUp Youth, helping us to create something new and unique for young Londoners.
