Information and Communication Officer, 37.5 hours per week, c£23K +benefits

As part of a significant service review the Board of Trustees have recently updated Positive Action’s aims to reflect a more contemporary position and as such, have restructured the organisation.

The new style Positive Action will be slim-line and member focussed - through education, peer-led support and technological support - and we are recruiting for a new staff team to support this development.   

As Information and Communication Officer, you will work closely with the Trustees, Manager and the Education and Mentoring Officer in developing the new model which aims are to support people living with HIV (PLWH) who become members of Positive Action by:

· Providing a structured peer mentoring programme

  • Providing ‘Living with HIV’ workshops to our existing members, those newly diagnosed or those who are new to our area

  • Providing a signposting information service (digital and telephonic)

  • Connecting PLWH to other PLWH for mutual support

  • Delivering education and raising awareness of HIV to the wider community

  • Enabling the voice of PLWH in Hampshire and Surrey

    You will develop and utilise new mechanisms to communicate with people living with HIV across Hampshire and Surrey, including social media and web-chat. You will respond to enquiries and to provide information to individuals looking for support, and will administer the new membership scheme

    This is an exciting and varied role which will require you to work flexibly to meet the needs of the organisation. Based in Aldershot you will support the development and delivery of the service across the whole of Surrey and Hampshire. You will have:

  • An empathy for all those affected by HIV and an awareness of the impact of stigmatisation and prejudice surrounding HIV

  • Demonstrable experience of digital communication, including websites and social media.

  • Excellent inter-personal, intra-personal and verbal communication skills will ideally have been gained working in a support services support role.

  • Excellent organisational skills with good attention to detail

  • The ability to work on own initiative within a team, the ability to accept responsibility and to be accountable.
