Job description

Do you make content which people want to share? Are you a whizz at video editing and copywriting? Do you keep an eye on the cutting edge of social media trends? We should talk…

As our social media officer, you’ll maintain Possible’s social media presence across a range of platforms, communicating with existing supporters and engaging new people across key audiences.

The basics

  • Salary: £26,848pa - £28,172pa pro rata, depending on experience.

  • Direct reports: None.

  • Working hours: 0.8-1 FTE (FTE = 35 hours per week) with core days of Tuesday and Wednesday. Occasional light evening and weekend comms cover.

  • Contract: Permanent. We can’t currently accept applications for job shares.

  • Location: Remote or based at our physical office in Camden, north London. We offer hybrid working. You must have the right to work in the UK. Unfortunately we’re not able to support work visa applications. (NB. Working remotely requires you to attend the London office 1-2 days a month at own expense).

  • Ideal starting date: September 2022 onwards.

  • Application process: Application form and interview (more on this below).

  • Closing date: 9am on 1st August.

About you

To be shortlisted, you must:

  • Be interested in energy and climate change - you don’t need a degree in the topic or have spent the last three years living in a tree as a committed activist, you just need to be able to show an interest.

  • Be excited about social media - you don't have to love all of the platforms, but you'll be energised by coming up with creative content and experimenting with new social media tools and trends.

  • Have some experience of being responsible for social media accounts in a campaigning or marketing context (i.e. this can be voluntary work or a personal project, but it can’t just be a personal twitter account with a few followers).

  • Have experience in video editing, creating video content for contemporary social platforms e.g. Instagram reels/TikToks.

  • Be interested in campaign communications (again, you do not have to be an expert) - e.g. you should read the sorts of emails and social media content NGOs produce, and be excited and critical about it.

  • Have some writing experience with a lively, clear and inspiring style. If it's in a campaigning context, that’d be great, but we're interested in other experience you might have too.

  • Be a stickler for detail, able to check your own and other people’s work for errors or inconsistencies.

  • Have good team working and time management skills.
