PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
The Wellbeing Coordinator will play a pivotal role in ensuring the well-being of children and young people attending our camps. They will assess the social, emotional, and developmental needs of children and young people attending camp to determine the support needed during the camp experience. They will work alongside volunteers and colleagues to implement support strategies at camp that meet these needs.
They must assess, respond to, and escalate safeguarding concerns. The successful candidate will be a registered Children's Nurse with experience in CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services) or a special interest in children's mental health. They will work closely with camp staff, healthcare professionals, and volunteers to create a nurturing environment that supports the diverse needs and will contribute, when appropriate to nursing / clinical knowledge to ensure a safe and effective service.
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Over The Wall seeks an individual passionate about the well-being needs of children and young people who use our service. You will also be a qualified nurse and occasionally use your clinical knowledge and skills to support the OTW Nursing Team when necessary.
Knowledge and expertise:
- Apply the basic principles of child and adolescent development and theoretical knowledge to work with children, young people, and their families.
- Sensitively relate to children and families of diverse backgrounds.
- Establish effective relationships and interactions, using age and developmentally appropriate approaches, to identify children and young people’s interests, strengths and vulnerabilities.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to identify health and wellbeing issues for specific groups of children/young people and for individuals.
- Work with families, professionals and children and young people to identify and plan for their psychosocial and safeguarding needs at camp.
- Work with the multidisciplinary team to develop and implement integrated individualised care plans, encompassing interventions and/or strategies to support children/young people’s and families camp experience.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to establish a camp environment in which children/young people feel safe, welcomed, respected and encouraged.
- Attend camp as a member of the Support Team, with a specific focus on behaviour, social and emotional needs (including mental health), and safeguarding.
- Supervise, mentor and support volunteers and staff in managing campers’ psychosocial wellbeing and behaviour at camp.
- Work collaboratively with the Nursing Team and the Clinical Team to ensure integrated holistic care.
- Ensure systems to monitor camper psychosocial wellbeing at camp are followed.
- Liaise with parents/carers and professionals as appropriate to support campers’ experience at camp.
- Deliver training and supervision around psychosocial issues, behaviour and safeguarding.
- Attend the relevant multidisciplinary meetings to contribute to coordinated assessment and support, raise any concerns and seek advice.
- Monitor and review the impact of interventions.
- Maintains and updates own clinical expertise.
- Takes every reasonable opportunity for maintaining, developing and acquiring competencies and skills for self-development.
- Provides support and guidance to Camper Recruitment Team and other staff around wellbeing and determining camper suitability.
- Leads the discussions with families and campers' wellbeing/psychosocial teams to clarify any issues/concerns and assess the suitability of the campers for camp.
- Ensures the provision of care is in accordance with OTW polices & procedures.
- Ensures high standards of care planning and documentation.
- Works autonomously to provide specialist knowledge to inform sound decision making.
- Contributes to the allocation of campers, taking into consideration individual camper needs and dependencies.
Camper Engagement:
- Develop informative, engaging, and relevant pre-camp communications for campers and their families.
- Collaborate with colleagues to provide creative age and developmentally appropriate methods for engaging children, young people and their families in the development and evaluation of services.
- Advocate for the needs of children and young people.
Record Keeping and Administration:
- Maintain accurate, factual, and contemporaneous records of camper/family contacts and interactions.
- Ensure personal information or observations about individual children/young people are appropriately shared with colleagues to support integrated multidisciplinary care.
- Record and report all concerns relating to needs assessment or safeguarding children to the appropriate member of staff.
- Keep objective and contemporaneous records of contacts, interventions and outcomes for campers and be able to utilise this information to inform future assessments and practice.
- Represents the organisation within internal and external networks.
- Promotes the corporate image of OTW to all individuals, groups, and organisations.
- Demonstrates professional attitude in dealing with campers/families, visitors/relatives, and colleagues, maintaining good relationships.

- Develop strong and collaborative professional links within health and social care.

- Work alongside the Clinical and Recruitment Director, Nursing Coordinator and the Camp Director, as well as the wider staff team and clinical volunteers to ensure that care, treatment and service needs are met.

- Demonstrates a flexible approach in working practices in order to meet the changes in service needs and emerging demands.
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
- Registered Children’s Nurse with current NMC (or equivalent) registration.
- Degree.
- Evidence of recent CPD.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience of working with children and/or young people.
- Minimum of 3 years post-nursing qualification.
- Experience in responding to and de-escalating challenging behaviour.
- Experience in undertaking risk assessment.
- Understanding of the developmental, social, emotional and practical impact of serious illness on children/young people and their families.
- Experience in assessing and/ or supporting mental health.
- Understanding of current child protection/safeguarding law and effect disclosure management.

Location:

The Role
The Youth Development Coordinator is responsible for the development and delivery of our youth development programme for young refugees and asylum seekers.

Job Description
To be responsible for coordinating, planning, and delivering our youthwork programme in Brent, ensuring you are focused on achieving our outcomes and impact for young refugees and asylum seekers – and working within our current strategy, youth development strategy and implementation plan. Our current youth work activities are:

2. To manage the Brent Youth Development Team
· Line manage Youth Development Workers
· Supervise volunteers to enable them to support activities with young people

5. To be responsible for ensuring there are adequate volunteers/staff present to safely run each session/trip and to find staff cover in the case of illness or absence.
6. To identify, propose and with agreement from the Head of Services, develop and run new projects in line with our new strategy and implementation plan, meeting unmet need and with advice from young refugees and asylum seekers in Brent and surrounding areas.
7. To ensure targeted outreach to young asylum seekers and refugees, publicising projects creatively and appropriately, including at relevant schools and colleges in the local area.
8. To ensure excellent safeguarding practice, and always follow our Safeguarding Policy, reporting any Safeguarding incidents to the Designated Safeguarding Lead ad ensuring they are informed, and appropriate, timely action is taken.
9. To work with the Impact and Communications Manager to provide content (photos, videos, quotes, case studies) which is safe for and respectful of the young people we support, with the right permissions that can be used as part of communications to our supporters, on social media and as evidence of our work to funders.
10. Ensure activities in Brent are monitored and evaluated in line with the agreed protocols.
11. To build collaborative relationships with partners and referral organisations attending and organising partnership meetings as required.

The Module sits within the Master of Research (MRes) in Developmental Neuroscience and Psychopathology (DNP), a two-year Masters programme, which is a collaboration between Anna Freud, University College London and The Child Study Centre at Yale University in the USA. EMPLOYMENT SPECIALIST ROLE (multiple openings)
Twining Enterprise supports people across North & West London with mental health problems to find and sustain work, using the internationally recognized Individual Placement and Support (IPS) approach.
We are now looking to recruit a number of professional and self-motivated Employment Specialists to join our dynamic and high performing teams in Barnet or Haringey. You will provide an employment support service to help people suffering with a Serious Mental Illness (SMI) to gain and sustain paid employment.
You will need to blend heart and head in responding to unique client needs supporting them to achieve long-lasting outcomes as well as contributing to a thriving team and organisational culture.

· Understanding and experience of the support needs of people with severe and enduring mental health problems in finding, returning to/retaining mainstream employment.

JOB PURPOSE
To inspire people with severe and enduring mental health conditions to progress and to gain and sustain paid employment and contribute to a thriving team and organisation.
The Employment Specialist (ES) role will work across and within the local Barnet or Haringey secondary care network. You will work to assist referred patients (clients) to find competitive and sustained employment. Around 25% of referrals will be to assist clients to remain in work if struggling, or return to work, if off sick.
Employment Specialists will follow the 8 principles of IPS, adhere to the IPS Fidelity Scale and achieve monthly targets and KPIs with the required administration and compliance.
You will need to be comfortable supporting people who have experienced / are experiencing serious mental health challenges, as well as possibly other serious difficulties in their lives. Although you will receive full training and support, it’s important you are aware of the potential impact this may have on your own mental wellbeing.
Responsibilities and Duties
1. Engage a caseload of clients with serious mental health problems and establish trusting, collaborative relationships to support them into employment in line with contract targets and IPS fidelity.
2. Assess clients’ employment support needs; implementing and adjusting employment plans as necessary to support each client’s desired outcomes along IPS requirements.
3. Develop and deliver a range of practical services to meet clients’ needs including career guidance, job searching, CV preparation, interview skills, individual coping techniques or work coaching.
4. Build a constant flow of referrals to ensure a dynamic caseload.
5. Conduct weekly employer engagement activity in line with IPS Fidelity.
6. Understand the complex issues a client may face, recognise holistic support needs and work in conjunction with clinical staff.
7. Facilitate access to expert financial advice on welfare benefits and ‘access to work’ resources.
8. Provide support and reasonable adjustments if required, to employed clients to support them to stay and progress in work.
9. Regularly attend clinical team meetings to provide advice and information on employment and IPS.
10. Collaborate with community partners to raise awareness of employment and mental health issues and promote access to the service.
11. Maintain accurate and up to date records of activity and outcomes in line with service requirements, ensuring the IT database is up to date and paperwork compliant.
12. Update and maintain NHS database (RIO).
13. Receive regular supervision and training to meet individual, team and organization’s needs.
14. Contribute to the development of a service that is locally responsive and supports minority/disadvantaged communities.
15. Comply with and actively promote all Twining policies and procedures including Equality and Diversity, safeguarding and data protection.
16. Perform other tasks as required by your manager.

The Social Switch Project
The Social Switch project is an exciting and innovative partnership between Redthread, Catch22, and VRU (Violence Reduction Unit), which aims to deal with the opportunities, and the challenges, of how young and at-risk people use social media.
Strand 1 will deliver accredited training each year to a minimum of 375 London based frontline practitioners and trusted adults (Teachers, Youth Workers, Parents, Carers, Police). This will focus on understanding the challenges and opportunities of the online space, and supporting young people to be better equipped and educated, for a safer online journey.
Strand 2 will support a minimum of 358 young people aged 16-30 each year, who may be at risk of, or have experienced, serious violence, exploitation, and/or grooming. The project equips young people with the skills and personalised mentorship needed to gain sustainable careers in the digital and surrounding sectors, whilst also offering interventions for young women and girls, focusing on how they can protect themselves from online abuse and exploitation, and how to recognise and report it.

About the role
Social Switch Project Practitioner Training
The Social Switch Project has developed a full day digital youth work training programme, for front-line professionals, who are working with young people in a range of capacities, in London. The training is a free one-day interactive course, and refresher training, which will give professionals the confidence to deal with the challenges, and the opportunities, of social media.
Predominantly working on Strand 1, you will be responsible for the facilitation of this training, to a maximum of 30 professionals over the course of a full day, with multiple training events taking place throughout the year.
You will also lead on delivery for Strand 2, in supporting the development of young people's key employment skills. This training has been designed in partnership with young people who have lived experience of the topic, and so part of your role will be to incorporate them into the training, and support them to make a valuable contribution to the session.
About you
Knowledgeable of the social media, gaming, and online space, from the perspective of young people and children's safeguarding.
Experienced in designing and delivery training for professionals, with the ability to engage targeted statutory and community groups, and driven to achieve high NPS with training delivery.
High quality data input skills, with the ability to remain data compliant.
Committed to ED&I, and experienced in Safeguarding.
Main Duties and Accountabilities
Delivering high quality, engaging, presentations and training sessions to London based professionals who are working with young people in the youth sector, and delivering workshops and sessions so small cohorts of young people who are engaging in the Strand 2 element of Social Switch.
Maintaining relationships with existing and new relationships with key stakeholders and youth organisations to maximise engagement in future delivery, and ensuring that the training elements are relevant to, and accessible to, a wide range of practitioners and grass-roots organisations.
Working with the Service Manager and Social Switch team to monitor training success, incorporating feedback as and when it occurs, and ensuring that the training remains dynamic and engaging. Supporting the youth facilitators to share lived experience throughout the training, making valuable contributions to the overall sessions.
Demonstrating effective forward planning, organising, and time management, to meet anticipated workloads and delivery targets and objectives. Working with the Service Manager to reach individual, team, and annual targets, based on youth provisions in London.
Remaining up to date with the latest developments in social media, and its relationship with youth violence, incorporating learning into the training.
Monitoring volume of sign-ups generated, and adjusting recruitment plans to maximise participation in the training programme.

Qualifications
A relevant teaching/training qualification, or extensive practical experience of delivering training.
A thorough knowledge and understanding of all aspects of social media, and how young people interact with it.
Experience of delivering engaging and dynamic creative training programmes to a variety of audiences, on a variety of topics, monitoring success, incorporating feedback, and ensuring that training is relevant and accessible to participants.
Strong team worker, with the ability to provide support to other members of staff, and youth facilitators.

Salary: £30,000 per annum
Hours of work: Full time, 37 hours per week
Contract: 2 year fixed-term contract
Flexibility: Hybrid working (1-2 days in our London office, 3-4 days working from home)
