Communities Manager

£35,000 to £40,000 per annum, Spitalfields, London

Our expectations for our new Communities Manager are high. Reporting to our Executive Director and part of a small, friendly, and growing team. You will be responsible for supporting communities in London to develop new genuinely and permanently affordable community-led housing; the development and implementation of our approach to the residents we serve, including allocations, management, resale, and stewardship; supporting local community steering groups building relationships, supporting groups and local leaders, and coordinating the implementation of our social impact strategy.

This position also offers a real opportunity to contribute to the future direction of London CLT. Requiring an exceptional individual with a deeply held conviction for and in support of participation and grassroots-led ideas for change, a successful track record of leading or participating in successful community-led campaigns, and excellent interpersonal and project management skills, with the ability to build relationships and exert influence over a diverse range of stakeholders and deliver results.

The Team 

The Trusts and Foundations Team is part of the Fundraising, Marketing and Communications Department and is central to Whizz Kidz contributing to its ambitious goal of ensuring that every young wheelchair user in the UK is mobile, enabled and included. The six-strong team is responsible for delivering over £3m a year for the organisation’s services.

The Role

This role will be responsible for researching and applying to small Trusts and managing an existing portfolio (up to 10K) alongside supporting larger grant applications where required. You will create and maintain a prospect list, apply for relevant opportunities and effectively steward existing funders, preparing reports and updates ensuring they meet donor guidelines. Furthermore you will support the migration of our CRM from Raisers Edge to Microsoft Dynamics.

The person

You will have Trust fundraising experience with excellent research and writing skills with ability to identify new Trusts to apply to, prepare accurate and compelling donor reports and case studies and be confident in approaching donors and promoting the work of Whizz-Kidz.  You will have strong donor stewardship skills with ability to tailor approaches to the needs of the donor. You will also have strong time management skills with ability to manage and prioritise your workload and ideally experience of using a CRM for Trust Fundraising.

Working to develop and deliver a children’s work strategy to enable local corps and centres to raise leaders and children who are disciples of Jesus in our tradition of social change and justice. The South West Divisional Headquarters is in Exeter and the applicant will be required to travel there at least once fortnightly as well as visiting various areas across the division including Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Wiltshire, Bristol and Gloucester. Although, this post will be more focused in Somerset, Devon and Cornwall.

Key responsibilities include:

• Equipping and empowering children’s leaders to enhance their communities and engage with children and the issues that affect them.
• Enabling children to experience ‘Fullness of life with Jesus’ in broader contexts. This might involve leading event and residential opportunities as well as children’s work in corps contexts.

UK Programmes Officer 

Location: Oldham EIC with flexibility (with some home working)

Main Responsibilities:

To work within the UK Programmes by providing support to Masjid Benchmarking, organising online Seminars, Support to Icare, Masjid Benchmarking, Education (Madaris) oversee and monitor Masjid Connect and Islamophobia monitoring, Publicity, supporting other areas of work of UKIM central team that may be delegated e.g. Imam CPD, Dawah, Tarbiyah.

Essentially the role is to support the Head of UK programmes to implement a varied and diverse programme of engagement to support improvement of the different programmes, masjids, branches, and departments in UKIM that require the support from UK Programmes Team. 

The post is varied and ever changing depending on the needs of the members and programmes within UKIM.   

Key Duties:

• To support Masjid and Branch Improvement through enabling them to undertake the self-assessment audit and then to deliver a development day based on the self-audit.

• To organise training both face to face and online that will enable masjids and branches to develop and move forward in their work programme.

• To bring on board speakers that will enable mosques to develop.

• To engage with the Dawah programme and to develop a robust programme of support to meet the needs of the department and different stakeholders. The parameters of this are still to be agreed and may involve some of the following areas it serves including new Muslims, design new curriculum, develop resources, re-develop & update websites, Unity Iftars, teach new Muslims & train daees. Based on your capacity and availability of resources to outsource where appropriate.

• To support the wider effort of masjid benchmarking by undertaking audits and maintaining contact with masjids through WhatsApp, support in delivery of development training etc.

CVAA UK is a membership organisation supporting not-for-profit organisations across the UK who specialise in adoption services. Over 3000 children in the UK need adoption each year because they cannot remain at home or with family members. The CVAA Practice Programme delivers 30 or more online courses each year to those working in the sector, primarily social workers. The programme has developed a strong reputation for attracting a range of subject experts to deliver cost effective, engaging and useful training. Due to a restructure of the team, we are now looking for a Training Manager who can oversee the delivery of the programme from mid to late July 2024. Initially fixed term, it is anticipated that this post will become permanent.

The Training Manager will work with the Head of Practice Development and the Programme Administrator to ensure that the courses are full, delivered effectively and evaluated. Part of the role will also be to source new trainers and support the creation of the programme into 2025.

The CVAA team work remotely across the UK so location of the postholder is not a barrier to recruitment as long as long as they can travel occasionally and come into London for team days. The team is small, diverse and dynamic. Experience of project management or delivery of training or events is more important than knowledge of adoption or children's social care. We would warmly welcome an application from people who have lived experience of adoption or fostering, and candidates from the Global Majority.

Role Description

As Volunteer Programmes Manager, you’ll be responsible for managing the successful delivery of projects in the Decorate A Child's Life (DACL) and Adventure Play Partnership (APP) volunteering programmes. Your role will include  managing the day-to-day operations for Volunteer Programmes, oversight of programme coordination,  reviewing and updating procedures on a rolling basis and keeping good records, including financial monitoring and collecting impact data for regular reporting. This role may at times include attending site visits to scope projects, and leading and supervising groups of volunteers during project installations. 

You will work closely with fundraising colleagues to match partners/corporate volunteer groups to projects, and from time to time you’ll contribute to scoping new opportunities to adapt our offer for potential partnership pitches. Our Corporate Partnerships Manager will be a key colleague, as you’ll work together to plan and organise volunteering opportunities and to plan and implement a high-quality volunteer experience that ultimately helps the charity to secure income generation corporate partnerships. You’ll need to take a lead role in monitoring and reporting on progress, including the expenditure budget for project delivery, the level of delivery and the capturing of feedback from both beneficiaries and volunteers.

The senior member of staff is responsible for ensuring the decisions of the Board are acted upon and the charity meets the legal and regulatory requirements of a CIO. The key focus will be on development of new income streams as we navigate challegnes across the site. The General Manager will oversee the implementation of the new Buisness Development Plan. Support the team of volunteers in project managment and fundraising to support the ambitions of the Board. HR management and financial control will be an important part of the role.

METRO, In partnership with Turning Point, NAZ and London Friend, delivers a model of sexual health support (SASH) throughout the three London boroughs of Hammersmith and Fulham, Kensington and Chelsea and Westminster. We are looking for a manager to lead the counselling team to deliver high-quality person-centred services within a busy inner London environment. The clients are from diverse communities affected by sexual health and mental health issues, and the role will support staff to work with people from communities such as LGBTQ and Black and Asian Minority Ethnic backgrounds and young people.

[Programme]

METRO, in partnership with Turning Point, NAZ and London Friend, deliver a model of sexual health support throughout the three London boroughs of Hammersmith and Fulham, Kensington and Chelsea and Westminster. Turning Point is the lead partner for the contract and a matrix staffing model is in place. The post-holder will be line-managed by METRO Head of Mental Health and Wellbeing and work alongside staff from other agencies. They will need to work closely with the Turning Point Operations Manager, contributing to management team meetings, and working

collaboratively with other managers across the service. The role will also be clinically supervised via independent supervisor arranged through METRO.

The post holder will also manage an additional contract under METRO called Cherish Hounslow. This contract is in partnership with NAZ, to deliver groupwork and counselling to LGBTQ+ BAME residents in Hounslow. There will be two posts to line manage in this contract, a group work lead and a counsellor.

[Role]

You will lead the liaison and development of work in the local community to promote referrals and joint working across the client pathway and be responsible for supporting the Operations Manager at Turning Point with reporting on the SASH counselling service. The post-holder will also work with the Head of Youth and Mental Health & Wellbeing, to manage Cherish Hounslow.

You will be required to lead and manage the therapeutic team including direct line management of counsellors for sexual health and HIV, LGBT HIV/Sexual health counsellor (supported by London Friend), Black African and other global majority counselling (supported by NAZ) and volunteers within all aspects of the programme. Also, the post holder will carry out clinical assessments, and recruit and line manage volunteer counsellors to support the programme. The postholder will also carry a small client caseload themselves.

The post holder will ensure the completion of all external and internal monitoring and evaluation requirements, including regular performance reports for funders for both services. This will involve the use of appropriate outcome measuring tools, including CORE, and maintaining good relationships with funders and other external stakeholders and partners through regular communication.

Hybrid London - 4 days from home, 1 day from SGT/Camberwell Office. Non-London based + 1 day a month from HO.

About this exciting opportunity

As Grants and Bids Manager, you will manage statutory funding applications of five, six and seven figure multi-year income compliant with commissioner/funder requirements and oversee the project management of applications – managing timelines, activities, delegating tasks and ensuring stakeholders meet them, support decision-making through providing relevant and informed advice and producing high quality funding proposals and applications.

We will also rely on you to plan and chair proposal development meetings with key internal stakeholders, to identify and successfully bring in new funding opportunities that align with our strategic objectives, and to provide the highest level of donor care and manage involvement of new funders to ensure that the giving potential of each individual funding body is maximised. Updating the Fundraising Management Team with strategic developments in funding opportunities and supporting the Statutory Fundraising Team with other tasks, including their funding applications and proposals, are also vital elements of the role.
