Working as part of our Development and Engagement directorate, this is an exciting opportunity for someone to project manage the day-to-day delivery of one of our high performing leadership development programmes, Digital Boards. The Digital Boards programme is a well-regarded programme supporting senior NHS leaders to lead on the digital transformation agenda, through bespoke board development sessions, peer learning events and written leadership resources.
This role would suit a dynamic, experienced, and hands-on individual who is motivated to work across high performing projects. The role will require a high level of organisation and involve working collaboratively across internal and external teams on events and projects, as well as working with colleagues across communications, policy, and analysis teams to deliver on programme outputs.

We are in the early stages of implementing our 10-year organisational strategy, ARUK: Towards a Cure. Sitting within the Chief Executive’s Office and reporting to the Head of Programme Management, the Project and Programme Manager leads the Project Management team and is responsible for driving complex, strategic projects and facilitating project management best practice across the wider organisation. The post holder also supports the Head of Programme Management in scoping and reporting on multi-year programmes and line manages the Projects Lead.
Main duties and responsibilities of the role:
Project management
- Deliver key, strategic projects, as determined by the yearly Operational Planning process, working with project teams to develop flexible project plans that can adapt to change.
- Manage project risks and decisions, liaise with third parties, and monitor project progress, ensuring stakeholders are updated at key checkpoints.
- Lead project reviews to capture successes and learnings and ensure project outcomes are embedded into BAU.
- Maintain oversight of key, strategic projects, identifying and managing dependencies as they arise.
Programme management
- Support the Head of Programme Management in scoping large programmes of work in line with our wider organisational strategy.
- Support the development of strategic working groups and assist the Head of Programme Management in monitoring progress against key strategic activities.
- Support delivery of the annual Operational Planning process
Team management
- Facilitate project management best practice across the wider organisation, contributing to the delivery of the Project Management Masterclass and developing and leading an internal Project Management consultation service.
- Line-manage and support the Projects Lead to ensure they deliver work to a high standard and their personal development is supported. Carry out annual appraisals and quarterly meetings.
What we are looking for:
- Experience managing key, strategic projects including allocating tasks and managing risks, decisions, and changes.
- Sound knowledge of project management methodologies (Waterfall, Agile).
- Demonstrable ability to work with and influence a variety of different internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to maintain focus on the bigger picture, spotting interdependencies and opportunities for collaboration across a range of projects and workstreams.
- Working knowledge of project management tools, such as Excel, Smartsheet, MS Projects or similar.
- Experience of line and/or matrix management.
- Programme Management experience, or a drive to develop skills in this area.
- Excellent communication skills, with an ability to build relationships, trust, and inspire confidence and respect at all levels.
- Strong team player who can work both independently and collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills, and the ability to manage a varied workload and reprioritise work in accordance with the organisation’s needs.

Additional Information:
Ways of working: Agile - As part of our Agile ways of working you will be required to work approximately 2 days a week from the office, which is subject to the requirements of the role and the business needs. Flexibility on where you work can be split between working from home and our office.

About you
With retail and/or online listing experience as a product owner, product manager, or similar role in the digital domain, you’ll have a strong proficiency and understanding of digital product development and product life-cycle management you’ll have previous knowledge of product discovery techniques, data analysis and insight tools.
With previous agile scrum experience, you’ll have knowledge of technical systems (including Microsoft Azure, Devops, Pipelines, Sitecore) as well as the technology fundamentals that underpin them.

The role
The digital team at Breast Cancer Now are leading a transformation in how we present our information and services to people affected by breast cancer. We are looking for a digital project manager who will be responsible for the delivery, tracking and communication associated with a number of key cross orgnanisational projects. We are seeking a highly motivated and proactive individual to join the Healthy Lives team. Working with the Programme Manager, the post holder will support the team by project managing a variety of projects and short-term grants, tracking progress and spend against the business plan, commissioning and managing suppliers as needed. He/she will also support workstream leads with corporate planning and reporting against strategic objectives working in line with organisational guidance.
The successful candidate will have experience of project management and reporting, have excellent organisational, planning and communication skills and be solutions focused. About the Council:
The role of Council is to lead on the GOC’s mission to protect and promote the health and safety of the public and patients; as well as maintaining public confidence in the professions. The Council is composed of six lay members (including the Chair) and six registrant members (i.e. registered optometrists and dispensing opticians). At least one member of the Council must work wholly or mainly in each of England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales. One Council member acts as a Senior Council Member whose role is to carry out the Chair’s appraisal as well as provide a sounding board for the Chair and serve as an intermediary for Council members, Executive and stakeholders as necessary.

It is a challenging role working across the Quality Directorate and you must be willing to travel nationally and to stay away from home on a regular basis (weekly). You will get support with all areas of the work and an in-depth induction.

The BHMA operates as a remote team however the hub is in the Bath/Bristol area with our AGM & a conference to be held near Bristol in 2024. We have 2-3 evening Zoom meetings per month and our remote administrator works mornings.

Main Responsibilities:
- Develop a clear vision and strategy to deliver sustainable income growth within the Lotteries and Gaming channel.
