Manchester, Greater Manchester
Voluntary
Job description

Projekts MCR is a community skatepark based in central Manchester. Projekts is an inclusive skatepark that aims to get people of all ages and backgrounds accessing the skatepark. We recently raised the money to expand our skatepark and now the construction is underway. However we need help! Because of the construction work we have cannot supervise all sections of the skatepark, this has meant that we need to close half of our skatepark. We need someone to join our team to help supervise a section of the skatepark so we can open it at the weekend.

We have had much feedback from our users saying they are really gutted that their favourite section of the park is closed. So whoever fills this post would be doing a hugely positive thing for our skatepark users and the skateboarding/BMX/scooter communities.

We are looking for people to lend as much time as they can spare on a Saturday and/or Sunday. We are open 1pm-9pm on Saturdays and 1pm-6pm on Sundays. We understand that these are long days and we want applicants to let us know the hours they are able to do on these days.

We need applicants to commit to a regular weekly shift from now until 1st September when this section of the skatepark is closed for good due to the construction. So this is a short term position and we are looking for someone to start as soon as possible.

Our ideal volunteer would:

  • Be reliable and punctual
  • Friendly and confident talking to new people
  • Someone who is interested in working in sports
  • Be able to work well alongside the Projekts team

What the role involves:

  • Checking all users accessing the skatepark have signed in at the main desk
  • Ensuring the park is used safely and looking of for any potential hazards
  • Prepping the park, making sure its free from dust and litter
  • Offering general help and directions to park users
