Our client, a college of the University of London and the UK's leading academic research centre are currently looking to recruit a full time temporary Scientific Academic Resources Officer, initially for 6 months. This will be to support the department in implementing a number of mini-projects which will improve the quality of student learning, the teaching provided and efficiency of operations.
In this diverse role, you will provide specialist administrative support which may include scientific writing, proof reading and design work (mainly InDesign and Illustrator) and will also support the coordination of online events run by the organisation. This post will support the Library Technology Officer for hosting MSc teaching sessions on zoom. Initially this post will be remote home working, which could be for the whole duration, although at a later date, if deemed appropriate the requirement might be to move back to the office, which will be in the Chelsea area of London
To be considered for this role, you will have a background in university administration or within a similar organisation, along with excellent organisational and communication skills. You will be adaptable and able to pick-up-and-run with lots of different tasks. Ideally with previous experience within a virtual learning environment and prior knowledge of design packages such as InDesign would be an advantage, although not essential. To understand scientific terminology, it is essential that you have a strong knowledge in natural sciences (chemistry, biology, physics, biomed or related) and have obtained A-levels or a degree in your respected field. Due to the nature of online teaching and remote working, being tech savvy will be second nature to you, including having a good understanding of video and audio-conferencing software such as Zoom.
