Poor numeracy remains endemic in the UK. Government statistics suggest that 17 million adults - 49% of the working-age population - have the numeracy level that we expect of primary school children.
National Numeracy is the only organisation in the UK focused exclusively on improving numeracy skills among adults and children. We exist because poor numeracy is alarmingly common, limiting individual life chances, hitting productivity and costing the UK economy a staggering £20bn per annum.
Chief Executive Officer, National Numeracy
Lewes (with frequent travel to London)
£80,000 - £90,000
National Numeracy was established in 2012 to help everyone across the UK to be comfortable using numbers and data to make good decisions in their daily lives. We tackle negative attitudes towards numeracy, influence public policy and offer practical ways of helping adults and children to build their confidence and competence with numbers. We work directly with individuals as well as through employers such as the NHS, community groups and the formal education system.
To maximise the impact of the next stage of our development, we are looking for an ambitious and visionary CEO who is excited by the opportunities associated with this high profile role. As well as experience of driving transformational growth you will have a proven ability to cultivate strong long term relationships with a wide range of partners and the ability to inspire other organisations to support us to achieve our vision.
With a highly motivated team in place and a committed Board we are determined to succeed, so if you are driven to change attitudes towards numeracy and support numeracy skills development, we want to hear from you.
