Job description

The Organisation

Based in Northwich, Cheshire, Deafness Support Network (DSN) provides a wide range of support and services for Deaf, Deafblind and people with a Visual Impairment in Cheshire and the surrounding area.

A leader in the field, helping establish new benchmarks for service provision and undertaking ground-breaking research that has helped develop new approaches to sensory loss services that are recognised nationally and internationally.

2019 has been a very exciting year for DSN bucking the national trend by providing new services in new areas, expanding both the service range and reach. 'Towards 2022' is the guiding strategy for DSN and has been developed with full input from service users, staff, commissioners, trustees and other stakeholders. It identifies clear strategic priorities and signals the vision and values as DSN moves forward.

 

The Role

We are seeking an experienced and inspiring leader to work collaboratively with the board and the highly motivated and driven DSN staff, to develop and implement strategy which will further increase the reach and impact of the organisation.

You will oversee the strategy, staff management, fundraising, and income generation plus support the Board of Trustees to enable good governance in collaborative, confidential, tactful and diplomatic style.

 

The Person

Candidates should demonstrate leadership experience at senior management level, including strategic planning, business plans, financial and HR management.

As the core of DSN services are commissioned, you will have outstanding negotiating skills with funders and local authority/government commissioning bodies and a track record of successfully negotiating and influencing at a strategic level. Building effective multi-agency partnerships and relationships will be second nature through the use of your networking, interpersonal and collaboration skills.

 

Excellent communication skills are essential, including the ability to adjust your style to communicate with a wide range of people including the Deaf community. British Sign Language Level 2 or above is required (or the ability and commitment to acquire this within 2-3 years).
