More than two million adults in England either cannot read at all, or struggle with this most basic requirement of everyday life. For them, ordinary tasks such as food shopping or using public transport can be confusing and daunting. Adults who cannot read are five times more likely to be unemployed, and they often struggle to help their children with learning. They are also less likely to take part in public and community life.
Read Easy UK is a national charity which provides free, confidential, one-to-one reading coaching for adults, through a network of affiliated, locally-run, volunteer groups. Our vision is for all adults in the UK to have the literacy skills they need to fulfil their potential and live life to the full.

Moreton-in-Marsh, Gloucestershire - flexible working arrangements considered
Up to £55,000 per annum
Read Easy UK is poised for a period of rapid expansion, and our principal goal for the next three years is to develop and sustain many more groups across the UK. This will involve raising our profile (both nationally and locally), developing our Management Team, appointing more Regional Advisers, and raising more money.
This is an outstanding opportunity for a new Chief Executive to build on the Founder's success, by leading the charity through this exciting phase of expansion, and exploring new opportunities.
We are looking for candidates with experience of managing an expansion of services, with a flexible, collaborative management style, and with the ability to inspire and support an amazing group of employees and volunteers. Ideally you will have experience of identifying and securing new income opportunities, developing relationships with funders, and an ability to be a key ambassador for the organisation. Crucially, you will have a real passion for supporting any and all UK adults to develop the literacy skills they need.
Read Easy UK is committed to providing equal opportunities for all, and applications are welcomed from all sections of the community.
Application deadline: Midnight on Wednesday, 29th September
