MHI is dedicated to digital innovation to support mental health, using emerging technologies and data science to identify and develop new tools and products. MHI combines digital innovation, data-driven analysis and clinical expertise. Its purpose is to transform lives by improving access to digital resources for mental health in the UK. The first programme is Shout, a 24/7 text-based mental health service for people in crisis, developed in partnership with the US charity Crisis Text Line. MHI works with charity partners, academic institutions and the corporate sector to help improve mental health in the UK.

Shout operates 24/7 and connects people in need to trained volunteers supported by a clinical team who provide help at a time when it is most needed; enabling them to move from a moment of crisis to a calm state and form a plan for next steps to find longer-term support. As texting is private and silent, it opens up a whole new way to find help. It provides instant support - you can have a conversation at any time - at school, at home, on the bus, anywhere.
Shout is powered by a team of volunteers who are at the heart of the service. They are trained to create a safe space for people experiencing mental health challenges. The programme is unique with the training and volunteering all done online, under the supervision of qualified clinicians. Working remotely, volunteers are part of a supportive and connected online community of more than 1,500 people from all across the country.
The Director of Income will play a pivotal role in the growth of Shout and the development of MHI. Reporting to the Chief Executive, the Director of Income will be responsible for delivering all revenue across the organisation. The Director will focus on generating new commercial revenue streams, lead on relationships with existing philanthropic donors, and secure further philanthropic support.
Specifically, the Director will be responsible for generating income from corporate partnerships and through the commissioning of the service to paying customers. A pipeline of corporate and commercial partnerships will need to be generated from day one.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a significant track record of creating and delivering a successful revenue-generating strategy, as well as building and managing income generations teams. You will be a creative fundraiser and will be able to demonstrate success in securing significant funding from a variety of sources. The selected candidate will have considerable experience and ideally will be able to point to several five and six figure partnerships that they have been responsible for generating.
