No one in the UK should need a food bank’s help. We want a future without food banks, without hunger, and without poverty. Last year, food banks in the Trussell Trust network gave out a record 1.6 million food parcels to people in crisis – a 19% increase on the previous year. More than half a million of these went to children. This isn’t right, and it can change.
The Trussell Trust supports a nationwide network of food banks which provide emergency food and additional services to people locked into poverty. We also campaign for change, challenging the structural issues that keep people there. This is an exciting time for the Trussell Trust. We’re about to implement our new five-year strategy, working with food banks and people who are referred to them, and we have ambitious plans to grow our impact and advocacy work to end the need for food banks in the UK.
