The Clothworkers' Foundation improves the lives of people and communities, particularly those facing disadvantage and discrimination, through grant making. Established in 1977 to be the primary vehicle of charitable giving for The Clothworkers' Company, The Foundation's grants to date have exceeded £140 million, with nine specific programme areas for funding that include disadvantaged young people, homelessness, domestic and sexual abuse, among others. One of the largest independent grant makers in the UK, The Foundation generates significant impact through the charities it funds.

This is an outstanding opportunity to lead on the design and delivery of a new five-year strategy for the Foundation encompassing adaptive and enabling grant making, social investment and partnership activities, underpinned by some key principles of equity, integrity and collaboration.
Critical to success will be your understanding and appreciation of the important role of The Clothworkers' Company (as the sole member and major donor) in the work of the Foundation and your ability to navigate a way of working that maintains and builds mutual understanding and alliances with The Clothworkers' Company and the Foundation.
We are looking for candidates who bring experience working in a collegiate manner within complex leadership and governance structures and an excellent knowledge and understanding of the systemic issues that cause disadvantage, deprivation and discrimination. Although a background in grant making is not essential, an understanding of best practice in progressive grant making will be important. A genuine interest and appetite to learn about The Clothworkers' Company's role in the work of The Clothworkers' Foundation, and a demonstrable commitment to embracing equity, diversity and inclusion will be essential.
