Prospectus is delighted to be working with the Fundraising Regulator to recruit a Governance Officer to play a key role in supporting them to fulfil its legal duties as a registered company.

The Fundraising Regulator was launched in July 2016 with responsibility for regulating all charitable fundraising in the UK. Its mission is to carry out an independent and non-statutory regulatory role in a way that protects the public, donors and potential donors, not least those who may be vulnerable, from unacceptable fundraising practices. It sustains and enhances public confidence in the charitable sector, supports the sector to understand and carry out its responsibilities when engaging with the public and helps to create a positive donor experience, ensuring consistent fundraising standards across the UK.

Five years after the organisation was launched, it is time to have a dedicated role responsible for all aspects of corporate governance. The post holder will lead on all on governance in relation to main Board and across a range of Committees including Complaints & Investigations and Finance, Audit and Risk. The Governance Officer will assume responsibility for the annual appraisals and expenses and oversee key documents such as the register of interests, Terms of Reference and Governance Framework. On the day to day you schedule and organise logistics for the meetings and prepare agendas, issue papers and take minutes. To ensure a smooth running of the Governance function you will employ robust systems and processes that maintain records and key documents for reporting responsibilities such as Companies House.

The right candidate will possess exemplary organisational skills alongside a keen attention to detail. You will be comfortable in compiling papers from multiple authors and have experience in taking accurate minutes at Board level meetings. With excellent communication skills you will thrive in engaging with Board Members and Senior Staff and be capable of challenging when necessary. With a strong commitment to best practice in governance you will enjoy working in a small but highly impactful team. Although not essential, experience of working as a Company Secretary and/or submitting annual returns to Company House is desirable.
