The Clothworkers' Foundation was set up by The Clothworkers' Company in 1977, and aims to improve the lives of people and communities, particularly those facing disadvantage. They award capital grants to charities registered in the UK and to not-for-profit organisations that work across one or more of their defined programme areas. They also award non-capital grants through their Proactive and Regular Grants Programmes. Since they were established, the Foundation has awarded grants of more than £140m.
Prospectus are delighted to be working with the Foundation to recruit a Grants Officer on a 12 month contract (maternity cover) to join their small team. Reporting to the Head of Grants, you will provide essential support to the Grants Officers currently managing the Foundation's open grants programmes. You will contribute to the effective and efficient grant-making of the Clothworkers' Foundation, without having direct responsibility for a portfolio of grants. Key responsibilities will include assessing grant applications, processing declinations and liaising with applicants prior and post assessment. Other duties will include maintaining accurate records on the Gifts Online database, processing and reviewing reports and accounts, as well as managing the Foundation's website
To be successful you will need to have recent experience working as a Grants Officer or within a similar role, as well as an understand of the grant-making process. You will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the interpersonal skills to allow you to deal with a range of people from different backgrounds. Experience of managing a capital grants programme would be useful if not essential, as would proficiency on the GIFTS database or similar. Based in a small, friendly team, the contract would be a great opportunity for the right person to gain further experience in an established grant making organisation.
