Prospectus is delighted to be partnering with Hackney Foodbank, in the recruitment for their new Head of Finance. Hackney Foodbank supports people who are in crisis or trapped in poverty with compassion and dignity. They do this by providing emergency food parcels, which offer practical, immediate relief in moments of crisis, and by connecting people with local organisations that can help them to address the root causes and wider effects of poverty in their lives. This role is offered as a permanent, part-time (28 hours per week) position. The advertised salary will be pro-rata’d to reflect these hours.
As the Head of Finance, you will be responsible for overseeing all the finances and for the overall financial management of the organisation. You will take a strategic view of the systems and processes at Hackney Foodbank and will provide clear and timely management accounts and analysis to the CEO and board of trustees. You will be able to manage multiple priorities, work to deadlines and have a keen eye for detail. It is an essential aspect of the role that you can communicate across the organisation at all levels, using language and terminology that is both accessible and empowering. You will be an experienced finance professional and should be able to work to the highest standards of accountability and accuracy to be part of the SMT and play a crucial role in the development of the charity.
To be successful in this role, you will be AAT/CIMA/CCAB qualified (or working towards qualification) and will have track record of success in financial management, including establishing and managing financial policies, procedures, and systems. You will have experience in producing and presenting financial information to trustees and non-finance staff, together with experience in financial transaction processing and record keeping, payroll administration, producing management and statutory accounts, and knowledge of statutory and non-statutory reporting requirements. You should have good knowledge of the accounting and regulatory frameworks for charities, as well as IT proficiency in Outlook, Excel, QuickBooks & SAGE. You will need strong budgeting and financial management skills, together with experience with line managing staff members and/or volunteers. Above all, you will be committed to and supportive of the aims and ethos of Hackney Foodbank.
