Prospectus is excited to be working with the wonderful and magical Story Museum to lead their search for a new Head of Fundraising. After the completion of a £6million capital appeal and a growing national profile, The Story Museum is looking for an experienced and imaginative fundraiser to guide them through the next chapter.
Founded in 2003, The Museum's vision is to enrich lives, especially young lives, through stories. Through immersive, interactive exhibitions and an imaginative programme of performances, workshops and clubs, at a most unusual Museum in Oxford, they provide people of all ages with opportunities to enjoy, create and learn from stories. They are committed to creating inclusive experiences and making the Museum accessible to a diverse audience.
Alongside the public offer, the Museum runs an extensive learning programme for schools, including funded opportunities for partner schools, selected for their relative disadvantage. The Museum also develops participatory projects with community partners to reach children and families who can benefit from engaging in creative activities.
As the Head of Fundraising you will have proven experience in developing sustainable income streams and building pipelines. Areas of focus will be High Net Worth Individuals, Grant making Trusts and Corporate Partnerships. Using your creativity and the incredible work of The Story Museum, long-term, successful relationships with a diverse range of donors will be forged, developing a robust income for the museum.
You will lead a successful team and come with ideas, be excited and happy to roll up your sleeves and become immersed in the world of stories. A structured solicitation and stewardship process will be key along with the resilience required for growing an outstanding fundraising function. An understanding of arts and culture is a necessity, as is a passion for the work of this incredible organisation.
The Story Museum is committed to increasing the diversity of their creative programme, workforce and audiences. As part of this commitment, they will create opportunities specifically for individuals from communities currently under represented at the Museum. This includes people from the Global Majority, specifically the African diaspora; South, East, and South East Asian diaspora; the Middle East and North Africa; people with disabilities; and people from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds. When submitting an Expression of Interest for the Head of Fundraising role we ask you to confirm if you identify with one of these communities.
