Birmingham, West-Midlands

Job description

Prospectus is proud to be partnering exclusively with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra to appoint their new Head of Philanthropy. Heading into its centenary year in 2020, the CBSO is widely regarded as one of the most influential orchestras in Europe.  It performs for over 200,000 concertgoers each year as well as running a sector-leading outreach programme which enriches people's lives through music across the West Midlands.

The Head of Philanthropy will primarily be responsible for engaging and stewarding a healthy portfolio of major donors as the CBSO realises the untapped support from this revenue stream. The Head of Philanthropy will personally be responsible for making the ask at the five and six figure level and will work closely with the Director of Development, Chief Executive, and Board members to secure significant funding for projects and core funding. Curating the involvement of these stakeholders will be a large part of the role, as will working toward incrementally increasing income targets each year.

The best candidate for this post will have experience of working with philanthropists in the arts and culture sector and will be a professional, driven major gifts fundraiser. Comfortable working to ambitious targets and reporting to the Director of Development, the Head of Philanthropy will play a vital internal role across CBSO, liaising with colleagues and other internal stakeholders to ensure major gifts are secured in the best and most efficient way.

First round interviews will take place in the Prospectus London office on Tuesday 11th February. Second round interviews will take place at CBSO w/c 17th February.

Do get in touch with Ryan Burdock at Prospectus for an informal discussion about the role.
