Hibiscus Initiatives (Hibiscus) is a voluntary sector organisation with a track record of delivering high-quality services for over 30 years. We have distinct expertise in working with marginalised foreign national (FN); black, minority ethnic and refugee (BMER) women in prison, in community, and with women and men in detention.
We make an impact through four service areas: prisons, international resettlement, community resettlement and human trafficking. Our services, developed in close consultation with the women we work with includes advocacy, advice, support and specialist services to make informed choice and positive changes to their situation. Support may include interpretation, cultural understanding, help to access legal help and representation, access to information on family matters, social services, accommodation, benefits. We provide specialist casework and a wide range of educational, social and well-being activities and support to resettle positively both in the UK and abroad.
We aim to expand research and raise awareness of the challenges faced by our clients to influence policy makers.
This is a great opportunity at the cutting edge of much needed work to support vulnerable foreign nationals, often 'lost' in policies and practices, affected by the criminal justice system and immigrations restrictions. You would join a vibrant, diverse and passionate staff team working collaboratively to deliver vital services. This is a key role in the Senior Management Team, working closely with the CEO to support the strategic direction of Hibiscus. As Operations Director, you will lead on Operations and Fundraising supported by a small team and outsourced HR and Finance Provision. You will take responsibility for the management and improvement of Central Services to ensure that the organisation runs effectively and to a high standard.
The right person for this role will have a good mix of fundraising, operations and management experience. It's a small team supported by outsourced HR and Finance provision and you will need to be able to think strategically while being operational. You will need to be flexible to accommodate the needs of a varied and rewarding role. You have a 'can do' attitude and are financially literate, a supportive empowering manager and great at fundraising and developing partnerships. Understanding of the multiple and complex disadvantages of our vulnerable client group or previous experience of working in an organisation which promotes the rights of vulnerable women with multiple disadvantages would be highly desirable
