Prospectus is delighted to be partnering with the British Institute of Persian Studies (BIPS) as they look to appoint a Part-time (0.6) Executive Officer, to be based at its London offices in central London. The role is for 21 hours a week, but there is flexibility to explore how those are hours are worked, across 3-5 days.
BIPS is a research organisation, which supports, promotes and publishes research on all aspects of the history, culture of Iran and the Iranian world (Afghanistan, Central Asia and the Caucasus). The principle duties of the Executive Officer is to administer all the UK-based aspects of BIPS and liaise with the Institute in Tehran in consultation with the UK-based trustees. Working with the senior leadership, you will prepare papers and write reports to donors and oversee the day to day management of the budget, and contribute to budget planning. The Executive Officer will also manage an Outreach and Administrative Co-ordinator to ensure that BIPS has well organised events, the website is up to date, the social media presence is relevant and members are being engaged with effectively. This is a varied position that will on the day to day include diary management, setting agendas for executive meetings, taking minutes and delivering book keeping and the payment of invoices (training will be provided on their system).
The right candidate, will have substantial experience providing executive support at a senior level. You must have excellent written, numerical and verbal communication skills, with a track record of writing briefing papers, as well as producing reports. This role would suit someone who has worked at executive level ideally within a small charity or a membership organisation and is aware of the relationships with institutional/academic donors. The placed candidate will thrive in a leadership position and will have some experience of managing people alongside a flexible approach that is responsive to demand within a small but busy team.
