Prospectus is delighted to be partnering with an outstanding global conservation charity to appoint their new Senior Communications Officer to drive the delivery of high quality, impact-oriented communications across multiple channels.
Reporting to the Head of External Affairs and managing a team of communications professionals, you will curate a pipeline of communications content and play a pivotal role to build the profile and reach of our client. The post holder will lead on media relations and press outreach and will build trusted external relationships with other strategic communications partners. You will also lead on developing and implementing a communications strategy backed by clear targets to maximise the profile and reach of the charity's work; this includes managing the organisation's communications budget as well as identifying and managing risks and opportunities. The post holder will serve as the organisation's first point of contact for all press and media liaison, produce press releases for news and organise press conferences for major announcements.
We are looking for a creative professional with demonstrable experience of leading on communications strategy, creating content and impactful communications, media handling and press outreach. You will have excellent writing and editing abilities, good leadership skills, and the ability to motivate and develop staff at all levels. Passionate about nature conservation, the successful candidate will be a natural communicator with a wealth of knowledge and understanding about how to strategically use communications to increase profile, visibility and impact of non-profit organisations. It would be desirable but not essential to have also journalism experience.
