Job description

The Skinners' Company is one of the 'Great Twelve' livery companies of London; it is a major not-for-profit organisation involved in running schools, sheltered housing and grant programmes for individuals, educational institutions, and a wide range of small organisations throughout the UK. The Skinners' Almshouse Charity retains the license to operate two London-based housing schemes for older people; one in Hounslow, and one in Palmers Green. They are now recruiting for an experienced Facilities Manager to play a key role for the charity which has provided social housing and support for older people in need for over 460 years.

Reporting to the Almshouse Charity Director, and working closely with onsite Estate Managers, the successful candidate will be involved in a range of operational and administrative activities to ensure the efficient running of the charity's sheltered housing schemes. You will oversee and coordinate contractual and Health and Safety arrangements as part of essential due diligence processes, involving a wide range of operational, administrative and support tasks. You will ensure that day-to-day repairs and preventative maintenance work is carried out to a high standard, and will carry out inspections of void flats, producing inspection reports and coordinating repair and refurbishment work to set timescales, always with resident's needs in mind. Working as part of a small team, you will also occasionally be expected to provide cover for the Estate Manager.

To apply, you must have significant experience of overseeing housing scheme facilities, and of monitoring and inspecting repairs and maintenance work. You must have experience of coordinating contractors and supervising their work and ensuring that budgets are maintained. You must have a good knowledge of the housing and care needs of older people and will have excellent interpersonal skills. Overall, you will be a proactive, self-motivated individual, committed to ensuring high standards in health and safety and property maintenance.
