Wimbledon, Greater London
£25,000 (pro rata)
Contract, Full-time
Job description

Wimbledon Guild is a growing, local charity with a proud heritage dedicated to providing people in Merton with help and support in times of need. They are now recruiting for a passionate Volunteer Coordinator to manage their new shopping programme, set up in response to the COVID pandemic.

As a result of the recent pandemic, a number of our client's older service users were advised to stay indoors and shield. The charity set up a new shopping service working with trusted volunteers. As the project lead, you will work directly with service users and volunteers to coordinate the volunteer shopping service across the borough of Merton and to rationalise the service so it is sustainable for the longer term. You will assess potential and current service users to understand their needs and will help identify their shopping options. You will support and manage volunteers to deliver a high quality, effective service for vulnerable and socially isolated older people, and will report on and monitor the service for effective evaluation purposes.

This is a fantastic opportunity to lead on a fast-paced community project, directly supporting people during the COVID pandemic. To apply for this role, you must have exceptional administration skills and communication skills, and will be confident in using both excel and a database for reporting purposes. You will have demonstrable experience of supporting vulnerable or socially isolated people, having carried out assessments previously over the phone and/or face to face. You must have the ability to induct, train and supervising volunteers, and will be warm, personable and approachable in your manner. Overall, you must be a well organised and proactive self-starter, passionate about delivering high quality services to support older or disabled people to be as independent as possible.

If this sounds like an exciting opportunity, please initially apply with a Word formatted version of your CV - suitable candidates will then be provided with further information.

Please note this is initially a 6 month fixed term contract. Please only apply if you are available immediately or have a short notice period.
