Teenage Exploitation and Abusive Relationships (TEAR) Advocate

They work to ensure that victims are supported to rebuild their lives, and that perpetrators are supported to change their behaviour. They are now searching for a Domestic Abuse - Teenage Exploitation and Abusive Relationships (TEAR) Advocate, to join their team, based in Basingstoke.
As a Domestic Abuse TEAR advocate, you will focus on preventing young people entering abusive and/or exploitative relationships by providing group work and holistic one-to-one support. You will work to increase young people’s knowledge and understanding about healthy/unhealthy relationships, domestic abuse, type of exploitation, how to recognise abusive/exploitative tactics and where to seek support and advice, as well as empowering them to make safe choices and developing individual safety and support plans.
To be considered for this role you will have both an understanding and awareness of the needs of children and young people who have experienced/are at risk of domestic abuse and Teenage Exploitation and Abusive Relationships, as well as knowledge of child protection and safeguarding. You will also have demonstrable experience of working with young people and children who are vulnerable and understand the complexities of partnership working. Lastly you will have an understanding of and an empathy with the needs and experiences of women, children and men who have experienced domestic violence.
Please note this is a full-time role, 37 hours per week, (Mon - Thurs 09.30-17.30, Fri 09.30 – 17.00). An enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) will also be required for this role. Due to the nature of the role, you are required to hold a clean driving license and have access to a vehicle. You will also have to participate in the on-call out of hours service rota. This is a 24-hour, 7 day a week service running outside of usual service hours.
