Job description

Since its creation in 2000, the KPMG Foundation has worked to support children and young people from more disadvantaged communities, to help improve literacy and numeracy skills and promote social justice.

The charity achieves its mission primarily through grant making and plans to invest up to £5m over the next three years, in partners who aspire to leave no child behind. Its current focus is on improving the lives of the most vulnerable children and young people, including those in care or on the edge of care, in England, Scotland and Wales, as well as the most vulnerable children in their early years.

Supporting strategic initiatives, sometimes at an early stage, with potential for wider influence and impact, KPMG Foundation is a pro-active grant maker, seeking out organisations who share its ambitions and can build evidence, share learning and work alongside others, including with children, families and young people themselves.

The board are seeking up to two Trustees who will have some of the following;

  • a background of working with and for children and young people, particularly in a family or community context
  • broad understanding of the methods, approaches and challenges of impact measurement and evaluation in a social context
  • experience in the children’s social care sector, possibly through commissioning, or in education

The Foundation wants a variety of experiences and perspectives and particularly welcomes applications from people from Black, Asian or Minority Ethnic backgrounds, and from different socio-economic, age and educational backgrounds. The Foundation is keen to attract Trustees from outside London and the South East, to reflect the geographic diversity of its grants portfolio.
