Job description

Prospectus is delighted to be partnering the Royal Society for Blind Children who believe that every blind young person should have the chance to live a life without limits. Their values of Trust, Energy, Ambition, and Motivation underpin everything they do, and by giving young people the essential skills to take control of their life, they can unleash their true potential. They are looking for a Welfare Benefits Advisor to provide information, guidance and advice for families and young people (0-25) with vision impairment.

As RSBC's new Welfare Benefits Advisor, you will provide information, advice and application support to vision impaired young people aged 16-25 and families of vision impaired children on matters relating to welfare benefits, grants and vision impaired related entitlements through telephone, email and face to face advice. You will develop and maintain professional referral and signposting relationships and networks and will keep up to date with legislation affecting the entitlements of vision impaired children, young people and their families to ensure they access support and services to meet their needs.

To be considered, you will be qualified to Level 3 or above in a relevant discipline such as Social Care, Health, Welfare Support, Advice and Guidance or have extensive experience of working with young people or families in need of support through a number of channels. This role will be working as part of RSBC's wider Families First team, but is a standalone role, so an in-depth knowledge of the welfare benefits system, particularly relating to disabled and young people aged 16-25 and their families, is essential.

Please apply with your CV only in the first instance, in a Microsoft Word format. Following your initial application, you may be contacted by Prospectus for an informal discussion, and may be invited to provide further information to assist with the recruitment process.

Please note this position is offered on a part-time basis, 2days per week (0.4), one day from RSBC's new offices in London Bridge, and the other from the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel.

As a specialist Recruitment Practice, Prospectus is committed to building inclusive and diverse organisations, and welcome applications from all sections of the community. RSBC are a welcoming, diverse and inclusive workforce and are a Disability Confident Employer.
