John Lyon's Charity gives grants to benefit children and young people in nine North West London boroughs. Responding to increasing levels of need, the charity granted over £12 million last year to a wide range of organisations within the charity's beneficial area, including education initiatives, arts programmes, sports projects and SEND focussed work. We are currently working with the charity to recruit a Financial Analyst on a 12 month maternity contract.

Working closely with the Finance Director, this role will be responsible for analysing financial grants and bursaries data to support reporting and decision making in addition to providing a high level of financial administrative support to the FD and the CEO. This will involve cash management, income and expenditure, grants financial monitoring, VAT returns, payments and wider, organisational financial data analysis to support the charity in its important work. Providing statistics for SMT and team managers, financial modelling and preparing accounts for annual audits will also be important aspects of this role in addition to processing payments, contract compliance and generating reports for Trustee committee meetings using the SAGE database.
The successful candidate will have substantial demonstrated experience in a similar finance role ideally but not essentially in the charity or beyond profit sectors. This person will have the ability to be both proactive in database mining and thinking how financial data can be used, and reactive in the day to day finance administration needs of a busy charity. They will possess a sound understanding of finance and basic accounting and a firm grip of SAGE and MS Office software. Part-qualified or currently studying towards AAT or a similar finance qualification, this person will also have a strong interest in the voluntary sector, an outstanding eye for detail and accuracy and will be a collaborative and approachable team worker. A superb opportunity for someone who wants to bring sound financial skills and experience to this great charity which supports vulnerable young people in London.
