Job Description

Fixed-term contract until 31st March 2019

Based in London, Counting House

This post is a job share opportunity and you will be required to work two days a week, Monday and Wednesday (15 hours per week)

About us

Talk to a man with prostate cancer – or his family – and you'll be eager to put him at the centre of your work. It's a vicious and fickle disease, one that passes some by with the merest scar and leaves the lives of others devastated. By 2030, it's predicted to be the most prevalent cancer in the UK. We're the only UK organisation taking this disease head-on, and we've got a lot of work to do. Become part of the team at Prostate Cancer UK and help make a difference to men’s lives. We believe men deserve better. Do you?

What the job involves

Volunteer engagement is our exciting new approach to volunteer management. By joining our team and working in partnership with others across the charity, you will help enable our current and new volunteers to engage at a level that is right for them, deliver great customer service and apply best practice for volunteer support and management, which will help us achieve our ambitious strategy.

Working in a dynamic, fast moving and fun environment, no two days will be the same. You could be talking to volunteers about their experience, arranging travel for Advisory Group meetings or providing administrative support to the team. You will be managing volunteer communications both internally and through our social media channels. You will actively contribute to achieving the charity’s strategy and business plan, placing men at the heart of what we do.

What we want from you

You will be customer-focussed, collaborative and flexible in your working style. You will be a confident user of databases, web and digital applications. You will also be a multi-tasker who can effectively prioritise and is comfortable managing a busy and varied workload. You may also have experience of working with volunteers. You will have great interpersonal and communication skills and be able to engage and develop good working relationships both internally and externally at all levels.

The support we’ll provide

Join our team and you’ll be working at an award-winning charity that will help you learn, develop your skills and expertise, and achieve your highest aspirations. We provide everything you’d expect from a professional organisation – competitive benefits package, contributory pension scheme, life insurance, child care vouchers, and season ticket loan – but much more besides. Work with us and you’ll see your efforts pay off as we fight for a better future for men.

Closing date: Wednesday 12 December 2018.

Interview date: Friday 21 December 2018.

We welcome applications from all sections of the community.
