Do you have passion for your work, a commitment to excellence, and a desire to support some of the most vulnerable and excluded people in our communities? Could you support us to make positive lasting changes in people’s lives?

Providence Row works with more than a thousand homeless and vulnerably housed people a year in East London, offering an integrated service of crisis support, advice, substance use & alcohol support and employment and training advice. Our aim is to ensure that people who are so often excluded from mainstream services gain the support and opportunities they need to create a safe, healthy, and sustainable life away from the streets. Central to our work are our core values of Compassion, Respect, Inclusiveness, Empowerment and Justice.  These values inform the content, style and delivery of all our services.

Reset Outreach and Referral Service

The Needle Exchange Coordinator role sits within the Reset Outreach & Referral Service, which is based at and delivered by Providence Row. The service is commissioned by Tower Hamlets Drug and Alcohol Action Team (DAAT) to work seamlessly with Reset Treatment and Recovery Support Services in providing residents of Tower Hamlets with the drug and alcohol support they need.

The entire RESET Outreach and Referral service works with clients through using a strengths-based, client-centered approach. This means that all staff involved in the delivery of the service must take their lead from the client’s own wishes and goals around their wellness. The service will engage clients in the development, delivery, and evaluation of the work, working with a team of mentors with lived experience of substance misuse.

The role

Leading on a busy needle exchange service, you will offer harm reduction advice & support to all clients who access the service. You will oversee stock levels and ordering of new supplies, with an emphasis on ensuring all stock is stored safely. You will also ensure policies, procedures, and quality control are in place for all clients and staff when carrying out the Needle Exchange and further develop good practice. You will lead on developing a new mobile needle exchange model into local services within the community and will keep accurate records of all exchanges and returns along with all harm reduction advice and any referrals into treatment services.

The ideal candidate

Passionate about providing quality support to some of the most vulnerable and excluded people in East London, you will have the drive and ambition to support your team to make positive lasting changes in people’s lives.

You will have experience in delivering needle exchange as well as an excellent knowledge of substance misuse support services. This experience can be paid of volunteer and lived experience of accessing these services is also valued. You should have expertise in engaging people through a low threshold service and a strong understanding of how other factors such as rough sleeping and mental health issues can impact a person’s health and wellbeing. You will live out Providence Row’s values in your approach to your work, as well as abide by the principles of harm reduction as specified by the organization Harm Reduction International (HRI).
