Job description

About PSPA

PSPA supports families affected by Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) and Corticobasal Degeneration (CBD), both are complex neurological conditions that affect mobility, vision, swallowing and cognition.

About the role

PSPA had a very successful 2018 that culminated in us: achieving a record level of fundraising income; supporting more people affected by PSP & CBD then ever; investing a record amount in research funding; and gaining international recognition by hosting our first ever international research symposium, in collaboration with our American partners, CurePSP.

Having recently restructured the organisation to create an Engagement department, we are looking for an experienced Communications Manager to lead the development of a communications strategy, focussed on increasing PSPA’s engagement both within the PSP & CBD community, and beyond. You will work with the Director of Engagement in a cross-organisational role, meeting the communications needs of our Fundraising, Volunteering and Information & Support teams.

You will lead initiatives to increase the breadth and depth of our engagement with stakeholders, raising awareness of these diseases through a mix of PR, marketing communications, social media and website updates.

We are seeking an analytical professional who can quantify and assess the impact of PSPA’s communications, learning from those outcomes to develop future communication approaches.

Our success in 2018 was no accident – PSPA’s ethos is one of supporting new ideas, and backing our staff. Just to show you we mean business, we have recently relocated to Milton Keynes, and launched our new brand. We are developing a digital strategy that you will assist in implementing, and have just migrated to Salesforce to help deliver it.

It’s a great opportunity to join an organisation that has undergone a top to bottom modernisation programme, and which values engagement with our supporters and partners strongly. The role of Communications Manager is critical to our continuing success.

Please apply by email with your current CV and a covering letter to show us how your knowledge and skills match this role.
